Blackwater eyes Palestine’s ‘Gilas killer’ Imad Qahwash as Asian import
A familiar face in Palestinian point guard Imad Qahwash joined Blackwater’s Monday morning practice at the SGS gym, fanning speculations that the 29-year-old FIBA-Asia veteran campaigner is set to reinforce the Elite as their Asian import for the PBA Governors Cup.
Qahwash arrived in Manila on Sunday afternoon as a guest of Blackwater board governor Silliman Sy. He was accompanied by team manager Johnson Martinez Sunday evening to watch Game 4 of the Oppo-PBA Commissioner’s Cup, which Rain or Shine won handily, 124-99, against San Miguel to march to the Finals.
“Naki-practice lang siya with the team this morning, gusto niya lang magpapawis,” Martinez told FOX Sports on Monday.
Asked if the Elite intend to pursue the Palestinian playmaker, who averaged 11.9 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals in last year’s FIBA-Asia cage joust, Martinez didn’t give a direct response.
“No serious talks with Imad, though kami as a team, kailangan din namin ng isa pang point guard to help Mike Cortez and Raffy (Reyes),” explained the Blackwater executive, who accompanied Qahwash in practice.

GlobalPort bringing back Omar Krayem, hopes to get Dominique Sutton release from TNT
From: Karlo Sacamos
May 31, 2016, 05:23 pm
GLOBALPORT is expected to bring back Omar Krayem as its Asian import for the PBA Governors’ Cup that unfolds in late July.
Batang Pier alternate governor Eric Arejola confirmed the development on Tuesday during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum, saying they are set to make a formal offer to the Palestinian playmaker before the end of June.
“Meron na (communication),” Arejola said. “Ever since naman, hindi naputol. Si (team manager) Bonnie (Tan) has been in constant communication.”
The 29-year-old Krayem averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, three assists, and 1.5 steals in 25.5 minutes in 11 games for the Batang Pier in last year’s third conference where he emerged as the third backcourt option behind Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle.
As for their regular import, the Batang Pier had earlier eyed former Air21 reinforcement Dominique Sutton, whose rights, however, are with Tropang TNT.
“Hopefully may makita silang (TNT) ibang import tapos i-release sa atin,” Arejola said. “If that does not happen, may list naman na pinasa yung coaches.”
“Hopefully by early next week, we can come up with a final decision with coaches and management,” he added.
The coaching position race, currently between Eric Gonzales and Johnedel Cardel, is still undecided.
“We’re still discussing, but definitely it’s from within the organization,” team owner Mikee Romero said.

Actually, having 3 conferences is not the issue. It's making the players available for NT. After all, the 3rd conference gives the players development. The best scenario is let the selected NT players play for the flag and rest in this conference. But of course, that would be next to impossible haha!

No problem on PBA playing 3 conferences, just pullout the nt players..As there would be players willing to play nt at least once in their careers(its rare we see teams vying for Grandslam anyways), just compensate the mother clubs on the time they will not play in pBA (kaysa namn walang mapanood na tao ang pba talo rin namn ang teams kung walang laro at mainjure pa players nila sa nt..)To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Anyway there are enough PBA players in the MVP group, MVP already has said he's willing to pull out players while the PBA is ongoing to play for the NT.
While maybe not an ideal situation, it's what the the SBP has control of and is a reasonable solution . Why bother with things you can't control (PBA leadership and agenda)NBTC- Team New Zealand - Camp David: vision "To provide a basketball Pathway for Filipino Kids in NZ while building men of character and leadership. with the changes in the fiba calendar, IMHO, the 3 conference format of the pba should be scrap in favor of 1 long season with imports (either all teams with unli height imports, or handicapping with top 4 teams with 6'6" imports, middle 4 teams with 6'8" imports, bottom 4 teams with unli height imports)Gilas Pilipinas
Dallas Mavericks
UST Growling Tigers
