China's FIBA Asia Challenge squad is looking solid despite its young core:

      Hu Jinqiu
      Fu Hao
      Li Jinglong
      Cui Jinming
      Chang Lin
      Jia Cheng
      Fang Shuo
      Zhu Rongzhen
      Yuan Shuai

If you consider to add either the likes of Gao Shang, Korambek Makkan, Zhao Jiwei and perhaps Zhao Yanhao, it will definitely add more depth into the wings and guard positions.

Front-court looks solid as Hu Jinqiu is a double double machine that can actually be a low post or high post playmaker. Hopefully, Fan Ziming could also join after the U18 tournament.

Chang Lin, Zhu Yuanxi and Jia Cheng are bigs that can shoot the mid-range. If China wants more rebounding, Tao Hanlin and Dong Hanlin are available to enlist.

Complete China Pool for FIBA Asia Challenge:

China NT Pool for FIBA Asia Challenge

          Yuan Shuai (Liaoning)
          Fan Ziming (Foshan)
          Tao Haolin (Shandong)
          Wen Yanhang (Shandong)
          Wu Qian (Zhejiang)
          Rong Haofeng (Jiangsu)
          Cui Jinming (Jilin)
          Jia Cheng (Sichuan)
          Li Muhao (Dongguan)
          He Tianju (Liaoning)
          Liu Zhixuan (Liaoning)
          Zhai Xiaochuan (Beijing Ducks)
          Fang Shuo (Beijing Ducks)
          Ding Yanyuhang (Shandong)
          Zou Yuchen (Bayi)
          Hu Jinqiu (Zhejiang Guangsha)
          Zhao Yanhao (Zhejiang Guangsha)
          Zhao Dapeng (Zhejiang Guangsha)
          Liu Zhenan (Beikong)

No assurance if Olympians like Li Muhao, Zou Yuchen, Ding Yanyuhang and Zhai Xiaochuan will play after Rio as they have earned their rest time as training camp is looming in late September for the new CBA season. I would take PGs Yuan Shuai and Fang Shuo in this one as they are able ball handlers, playmakers and scorers.

Fan Ziming should be included in the 12 man roster for the sake of developing the young man's game. To back up Fan should be Tao Hanlin, a bruiser and rebounder molded into one. For the past three years, Tao has had experience battling centers like Haddadi in tournaments like the Atlas Challenge. I'd take Jia Cheng as well, a big man that can hit mid-range. Ditto with Hu Jinqiu, who was present in the early training camp and scrimmages with European teams.

Zhao Yanhao, Wu Qian, Li Jinglong, Cui Jinming and Wang Ruheng should also be considered.

It seems the core for Chinese Taipei is now a lock according to TPE based sportswriters.

            Liu Cheng
            Chou Yi-Hsiang
            Lee Wei-Che
            Hu Long-Mao
            Quincy Davis
            Chang Yu-An
            Lee Te-Wei
            Chou Po-Chen
            Chou Bo-Hsun

Maybe Wu Hung-Hsing at 202 cm could be added to add ceiling. Chang Tsung-Hsien or Douglas Creighton for added wing scoring. Perhaps add in another PG in Chen Ying-Chun if he's available.

looking forward on their natchup gainst Philippines, well its coaches job to ease pressure on AVO to defend Quincy davis as it will be team defense that will get the job done..

Without Yi this team still has arguably the best frontcourt overall in the tournament. Tao Hanlin, Fan Ziming, Zou Yuchen and Hu Jinqiu will all be very effective in the post in the Asian level.

The team has essentially no small forwards, just guards and big men. Some very good shooters. Defense could be a very big problem, but offensively the team's ok, if the guards are able to handle the pressure. Will be interesting to see how they finish, hoping for top 3 but probably will be upset by an East Asian team due to lack of experience especially by the guards.

There's no real point in the tournament, but since it's FIBA sanctioned some nations send their best teams. An alternative of FIBA Asia but with less at stake, good competition for rebuilding teams.

Since Iran still has Haddadi and Sahakian etc. it would be surprising if they don't win this at home. Philippines sending an amateur team. I wonder how good Iraq is, with their current political situation: seems like they even hired an American import named Kevin Galloway.

Unlike in soccer, Iraq can send a team and win Asian cup.. different story in basketball though..
