            Interesting facts :

Last summer, 6'0" Montenegrin PG from Denmark Danijel Marsenić ('01) was tried out by the Basketball Federation of Serbia.

Last year, 6'6" Serbian SF from France Nikola Ivović ('00) whose family comes from the city of Herceg Novi located in southwestern Montenegro was tried out by the French Basketball Federation for its National Institute of Sport and Physical Education development team (better known under the name of Centre Federal) and for its U15 national team but he didn't make the cut (just like his fellow 6'7" Serbian F Danijel Čubra and 6'8" Croatian C Ivan Radoš). Conversely, 6'7" SF Marko Coudreau ('00) whose mother is Serbian made it and is now a very valuable member of the France U16 side.

I've serious doubts that Croatia has a better score-first PG than 6'5" German Bruno Vrcić (late '00) in this generation. Really productive rebounder and ball stealer too.

Ruben Wolkowyski's son Tomás is the headline name on a 17-strong candidate list revealed by Argentina's U16 coach Sebastián Uranga ahead of the 2016 International Tournament of Samsun. With six players over 6'8", size is not absent that is quite unusual for an Argentinian U16 squad. It seems that the Argentine Basketball Federation's new "Extra Tall Players" operation, similar to the one launched by the French Basketball Federation more than a decade ago, is producing quick results. The aim of this project is to detect potentially very tall players (6'10" and over) at a very early stage and help them to progress under the best possible conditions.

Francisco Farabello (Sport Club de Cañada de Gómez)
                Juan Ignacio Marcos (El Coatí)
                Lucas Reyes (A.D. Anzorena)
                Marco Giordano (Temperley de Rosario)
Juan De La Fuente (Quilmes de Mar del Plata)
Juan Cruz Marini (Pacifico de Bahía Blanca)
Julián Eydallín (Talleres de Villa Gdor. Gálvez)
                Aaron Pablo (Boca Juniors)
Tomás Wolkowyski (Quilmes de Mar del Plata)
Ian Duhamel Hayes (Temperley de Rosario)
                Juan Hierrezuelo (Ausonia)
                Andrés Bodach (Regatas Corrientes)
                Francisco Caffaro (Atlético Trebolense)
                Ulises Sangoy (Asociación Deportiva Atenas)
Tobías Scevola (Zaninetti de Concepción del Uruguay)
                Cristian Bihurriet (Caza y Pesca)
                Martín Flores (Beccar)

France will compete in Samsun without its best prospect the 6'8" oustandlingly athletic and smooth Guinean SF Sekou Doumbouya (late '00), who played pretty well at the Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Kaunas against an older opposition and who is still waiting on French citizenship clearance to represent his adopted country in FIBA competitions.

                  Interesting facts :

5'8" PG Lucas Bourhis ('00) is the younger brother of late Jonathan who played for France national team at the 2009 U19 World Championship held in New Zealand.
6'3" SG Joël Ayayi ('00) who is of Beninese origin is the younger brother of the French women national team standout Valériane Ayayi who played last summer in the WNBA for the San Antonio Stars.
6'2" PG Théo Maledon ('01) is so far a french poorman's Stefan Peno only, with the same weaknesses but far less creative distributor.
6'7" SF Marko Coudreau ('00) has the size, length, velocity, skillset and IQ to become a nice pro SF down the road but right now he's still a bit shy in his game.

In preparation of Samsun tournament, Latvia cadet team beat Finland, Sweden and host Estonia at the beginning of January.
Starters were Kristians Sefanovskis, Niks Salenieks, Adrians Snipke, Anrijs Miska and Valters Veveris, who together with Rainers Hermanovskis were the only players able to reach double-digit scoring. Others who played and went on the scoreboard were Gints Zomerfelds, Aleksis Emsins, Aivars Dambis, Niks Linis and Kristers Elksnitis.
This team appears to be undersized, as none of its members reaches 2m.

                      Nikola Ivović (Paris Levallois)
The mobile, well-built, coordinated and quite athletic 6'9" C Filip Petrušev ('00) is improving well. Earlier this month, he led the Basque Country selection at the U16 Regional Championship and ended the competition as 2nd best scorer (16.2), 5th best rebounder (11.1) and 3rd highest valuation (22.7) in less than 26 minutes per game. If he continues to improve at that pace, I won't be surprised to see him becoming a real competition to the 7'1" more hyped Balša Koprivica ('00) for the starting center spot at the U16 European Championship.

Behind Petrušev, 6'9" Mateja Jovanović ('00) who is the son of former Partizan's head-coach Vlada Jovanovic and 6'9" Dejan Marjanac ('00) will be in direct competition for a potential last center spot and should share playing time equally during this tournament.

Slovenia U16 should be able to count on five players who gathered valuable experience during last year's U16 Division B European Championship

The inside duo of 6'8" Montenegro native C Nemanja Ščekić (late '00) and 6'7" PF Blaž Janežič ('00) will be in charge of cleaning up the rim and hustling in the key, while the extremely promising and potent wing duo of 6'7" small forward Nik Dragan ('00) and 6'6" swingman Rok Radović ('01) will take on a large portion of the scoring. The first one being mostly used as a stretch PF at this level of competition while the second one has the skills to be the next Slovenian big-time talent. The whole being animated by 6'0" Jernej Andolšek Heine ('00), a traditional run-the-pace-type PG.
