Similar story in Pilsen in 2014 but they were too one dimensional - basically dominating the glass and getting more put-back scores but little from wings or backcourt -. Don;t think they played Sharp enough at that tournament. Hope better balance this time....

Portugal will be a new entry to watch, after the surprising silver won at last year's U16 Euro, and an interesting rematch with Spain in Gr. D.

I agree it will be fun. They will miss the added scoring power of Mariana Silva who isn't included and won;t have home backing which was incredible last year. But they do have big mental edge over Spain after beating them by 20 in the Semi-Finals.

Looking forward to seeing Beatriz Jordao again! Hopefully swatting some shots out there!

Jordao is expected to be a defensive wall, indeed. Btw, according to the link you provided, it seems that Mariana Silva is in the 14-player list!

The frontcourt of Cubaj, Modera and Trucco could be most dominant in entire tournament - them and Czech Republic are a great early test for USA. Italy are my dark horse and I have probably jinxed them, but if Pinzan plays and shoots well in the backcourt, they could excel. They may get stuck in what is a decisive game against Czechs. But this time I would think Italy could beat the Matosinhos champs. What a game that is on so many levels early in Zaragoza!

Not much has surfaced concerning another new entry, Latvia, afaik. 23 candidates were named but no final team has been announced so far.

Players are listed by position. All 12 members of the U16 team that finished 5th at the 2015 Euro championship are in.

No info about scheduled friendlies prior to the WC.
