So Spain will probably have a chance for a revenge at home after we eliminated them in the semifinal thriller with two overtimes in the FIBA U - 16 European Championship. Now that would be one intense game
Due to his elegance and imagination, Mirza Delibasic was one of the continent's greatest ever players.

South Korea and Chinese Taipei are the first two Asian teams to qualify for this edition of the FIBA U17 World Championship.

The final slot will be decided between China and Japan.

Don Showalter will again coach US U17 team. This is the eighth straight year he will lead a cadet NT, with a cumulative record of 43-0.

Anyone ever come close to beating the US Cadet team during that 43-0 run?
The only thing I can think of Canada leading in the 4th quarter at this years U16 FIBA Americas only to collapse under the US depth and pressure. Australia kept it within single digits in the 2014 Championship game - but I dont think Oz was ever really threatening to win.

If Bosnia will play with all their stars and good chemistry, they may beat USA! Something like 40%-60%.

Well, final game vs USA is far from a sure scenario. There are few teams perfectly capable of eliminating us. Our players should not really bother thinking about potentially clash vs USA, they are just one of the teams in the tournament, and they aren't only tough opponent there.

But I belive in this team, they will do fine. As for chemisitry, well there is a much more chemistry in the starting five of this team than in our senior national team. Those players are really complementary to each others. I'm happy to see that most of them are doing fine in their clubs. At the time they won a U - 16 European Championship, none of them played first team basketball, just for youth teams. Since then, all of them debuted for the first team. It's a great experience for them.

So, in today column "Where are they now?", I'll write about coach and starting five of our golden team from the U - 16 EC 2015(of course, maybe it will not be our starting five in the Spain next year, even the same coach isn't sure thing):

                    PG - Sani Čampara

His role: Čampara is the best shooter in this team. He really needs only a millimeter of free area to make a three point shoot. He is a scoring - first PG, but from time to time can make really nice assists.

What he is doing now? Čampara is playing for the first team of SPARS in Bosnian league. It's one of the best teams in the league so he isn't playing a lot, but he had some flashes.

                    SG - Džanan Musa

His role: Leader of this generation. Best scorer, but at the same time best creator for other players.

What he is doing now? Džanan plays for the first team of Cedevita. In the Adriatic league he is already getting huge minutes, and he also debuted in Euroleague.

                    SF - Emir Čerkezović

His role: The coach's favorite. Always on the right place to grab a offensive board or score. Makes smart fouls. Plays with great effort. Doesn't take a lot of shoots. Player that know his place in the team.

What he is doing now? He is actually playing importanr role for his club Sloboda Tuzla in the Bosnian league. It isn't a great team now, so there is a plenty playing time for him and opportunities to make plays like this.

                    PF - Lazar Mutić

His role: Mutić doesn't really contribute in the offense. It's hard for him to make even a free throw. But, he is a athletic power forward with strong body, best defender and rebounder in team. Someone have to do a dirty job.

What he is doing now? Mutić is a player of spanish third division team Torrelodones. He is rarely in the first team roster and played only a couple of minutes so far, but I don't have doubts about will he do his work in the national team.

                    C - Njegoš Sikiraš

His role: Force in the paint. Can shoot for three. Without him, this is a solid team. But with him, it's a great one.

What he is doing now? Njego is injured so he didn't played much so far in the season for his Stellazzurra Academy. I hope that we will see him healthy and 100% prepared for U - 17 World Championship, because in that case he is easily 20 + 10 player on that level.

Coach Josip Pandža: Young coach(28 years old) had a great year. After he won a U - 16 EC, now his club Kakanj is doing great in Bosnian league, they are the biggest suprise so far. And he was also awarded as "Bosnian coach of the year".

In the other hand, he said in interview that till now nobody offered him a job of U - 17 national team coach for the World Championship. He also criticized basketball Association for inactivity. Pandža claims that he already made a plan of many gatherings of potential candidates for this team(except starting five, nobody from U - 16 2015 team doesn't really have a secured place in 2016 U17 team), but even if he stay as a coach of this generation, he doesn't see that Association is willing to provide funds for so many testing of candidates and long and quality preperation, as he had in mind.
Due to his elegance and imagination, Mirza Delibasic was one of the continent's greatest ever players.

There are updates about these players, that may be interesting "power forward/pivot" for U17 Bosnian Team?
(I was not able to quote another discussion, but thank you to SERBIANHOOPS user for this interesting information)

                      "
Verdran Mirkovic and Timur Ocvina (both 6'7") are typical example of precocious puberty, (early developed, quite strong but undersized post players). Their growth spurts are likely over.
6'10 C Galib Palo is a joke of a player while his 6'9" teammate versatile PF Erwin Gutic ('00) is a far better prospect. Both are said to be still growing.
6'11" C Semin Burko has size and could develop into a decent big man.
6'10 Anes Softic ('99) who will play next for croatian side Sibenik (Darrusafaka's farm team) is the mystery man and could be the next sensation produced by Ozren Seleskovic who is known to be Mirza Begic, Alen Omic and Jusuf Nurkic's personal skills development trainer.
                      "

They are having good seasons? where they play?

It seems like there are at lest 3 players are 6'10+. And Verdran Mirkovic and Timur Ocvina were 201 cm last year when they attended U 16. Have they grown taller these days?

Being an U17 World Championship finalist twice in a row should make Australia a legite contender to reach again the title game or at least the podium.

PG - Lachlan Dent ('00) - 6'0 hardnose defender (very good on-ball defence) with nice court vision and distribution. A smaller poorman's version of Dellavedova
SG - Dragan Elkaz ('99) - 6'5" long range bomber with a killer instinct worthy of his fellow Serb and newly Miami Hurricanes' commit Dejan Vasiljevic.
SF - Tom Fullarton ('99) - 6'6 all-around swingman with elite athleticism. The team's go-to-guy and main facilitor.
PF - Sam Froling ('00) - 6'9" big-time lefty prospect born into a basketball dinasty (his parents are NBL and WNBL veterans, while brother and sisters played respectively for Australia at the last 2014 U17 WC and at the 2013 U19 WC for women) who will likely end up being 7 feet tall.
C - Mate Čolina ('99) - 6'10" late bloomer of Croatian ancestry with pretty good fundamentals, former two-sport athlete (australian football and basketball, like Fullarton btw) who decided to fully focus on basketball since he made the Australian U16 squad last summer.

With 6'2" scoring combo guard Patrick Bines* ('99)*, 6'6" combo forward Matthew Johns ('99) **, 6'5" California-native point forward Jordan Starr ('99) and 6'8" center Benjamin Fakira ('99) set as the main bench options.

                          * First back up option outside.
** As face up four when Australia has to play small ball.

                            Karma strikes again!

6'9" PF Njegoš Sikiraš ('99) will likely watch the 2016 U17 World Championship on TV.
