  • Eight American players currently top the Chinese League (WCBA) in scoring, headed by Henan's Chiney Ogwumike with 33.6 ppg. Breanna Stewart, Tina Charles and Jewell Loyd are also averaging 30+ ppg and are followed by Kelsey Bone, Stef Dolson, Crystal Langhorne and Sylvia Fowles.

    • Guard Courtney Vandersloot, former member of the US national team players pool in view of 2012 Olympics and 2014 WC, got Hungarian citizenship and has recently played with Hungary national team at the 2017 Euro Basket qualifier. She played the two last games recording 9.0 ppg and a team's best 6.5 rpg. She replaced regular starter Allie Quigley who just participated in one game early this year.

      • WCBA top scorer Chiney Ogwumike underwent Achilles surgery on her left tendon yesterday in Houston and will be out for 6-9 months. This will surely affect her 2017 WNBA season with the Sun as well.

        • Euro hoops season is well in progress. Here some of the top performers by country:

          - Center Michala Johnson, who started her collegiate career at UConn and ended it up at Wisconsin in 2016 is the current scoring leader of Belgian League (20.5 ppg) with 2nd ranked Waregem.

          - PF Monique Reid, Louisville 2013, tops Bulgarian League in both ppg (28.7) and rpg (10.7).

          - G/F Krystal Vaughn, VCU 2008, who played shortly with the Washington Mystics after college, is leading the Czech League in scoring with 22.1 ppg.

          - PG Khadijah Sessions, South Carolina 2016, currently tops the Finnish League in scoring, with 27.1 ppg.

          - Center Shamela Hampton, UNLV 2009, leads Greek League in scoring with 21.4 ppg.

          - Fw Jessica Kuster, Rice 2014, is the leading scorer of Hungarian League with #1 ranked PEAC-Pécs.

          - Fw Keisha Hampton, DePaul 2012, is the current top scorer of Israel League with 23.5 ppg. She playerd briefly with 2016 Minnesota Lynx and internationally won the gold with USA at the 2011 Universiade.

          - G/F Brooque Williams, a former NCAA2 player (2010), is leading Italian League in scoring with 20.2 ppg.

          • Euro hoops season, some top performers - part two:

            - Fw Courtney Hurt, former VCU star (2012), leads the Polish League with 19.2 ppg. She formerly played in minor pro league WUBA and other European countries.

            - Guard Lia Galdeira, who ended her collegiate career at Washington State as a junior in 2015 plays in Romania where she is the scoring leader with 22.0 ppg. After playing the 2015-16 season in Bulgaria she was drafted by Mystics in the 2nd round.

            - PF Emma Cannon, Central Florida 2010, leads strong Russian League in both scoring (20.4 ppg) and rebounding (11.4 rpg). She went undrafted by WNBA and spent most of her pro career in Germany before moving to Russia.

            - F/C Monique Oliver, Rutgers 2013, tops the local league in Slovakia with 22.2 ppg

            - F/C Shante Evans, Hofstra 2013, leads the Slovenian League in scoring. She represented USA at the 2011 Pan American Games.

            - F/C Destiny Williams, Baylor 2013, leads the Spanish League in rebounding and ranks second in scoring. Short for her role at 6-1, she wasn’t drafted by WNBA. Williams won the gold with USA U19 team at the 2009 WC.

            • Elena Delle Donne reportedly signed with Shanxi for the remainder of Chinese league season, replacing Jewell Loyd, who's expected to leave. It would be the first time for Delle Donne playing abroad.

              • Former South Carolina star Tiffany Mitchell led Nadezhda Orenburg (RUS) with 26 pts to a road win over Avenida (ESP) in yesterday EuroLeague game. Nadezhda is currently at the top of its Group B. Mitchell, a WNBA 1st round pick, played last season for Indiana Fever.

                Angel McCoughtry contributed with 22 pts to unbeaten Dynamo Kursk (RUS), that is topping its EuroLeague Group A. McCoughtry reportedly could miss part of the next WNBA season to rest from her long-lasting playing duties.

                • Breanna Stewart is getting back home from China to rehab a sprained PCL in her right knee. She's planning to be ready to play again in China for the playoffs. Stewart is currently averaging double-double digits in WCBA and ranks third in scoring with 31.4 ppg.

                    • Courtney Paris produced 33 pts and 28 rebounds in...55' action in yesterday Euroleague 3OT win of Hatay (TUR) over Sopron (HUN), 98-95. Odd enough, two other players with (almost) identical name, Paris teammate and former UConn standout 2002-06 Barbara Turner (aka Bahar Ozturk), and Sopron's Yvonne Turner (Nebraska 2010) scored 33 and 30 pts respectively.

                      • Fenerbahce (TUR) signed Candace Parker, who should play there the remainder of the season. Fenerbahce is leading the Turkish league and next week will start the final phase of the EuroLeague championship.

                        ISTANBUL (EuroLeague Women) - Fenerbahce have made a serious statement of intent to land their first ever EuroLeague Women title after confirming the acquisition of Candace Parker.
