I didn't expect Iran U18 to beat any team here (probably except Yemen) but surprisingly they beat Palestine (with Sakakini and Abu-Shemala) here today !

Yousefvand is the player to watch in this team. he was a starter in previous U18 team (when he was U16)

Very impressive win for U18 Iranian NT! Congrats and this just shows that Iran will continue having a great NT for many years to come with hard work, proper planning and dedication as long as the Iranian federation cares about this sport and invests in it

Agree with U. For an U-18 team to beat a senior team like that of Palestine is no mean feat.

Good to see Syria participating in this tournament despite the civil war in that country. Old reliables Michele Madanli, Papazian, Ahmad Ishak & Sharif El Sharif are no longer around. Maybe this current team is a rebuilding one. The old reliables aren't getting any younger anyway.

It would have been a more exciting tournament if Lebanon is playing.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

True ! Very impressive results by the U18 Iranian NT in this tournament. From the looks of it Iran will continue to be a basketball force in the distant future.

Syria still has a few veterans on the team but they are currently in a rebuilding phase and playing in such a tournament is the best way to prepare their NT especially considering the very unfortunate and horrible circumstances taking place in Syria.

Lebanon withdrew at the last second due to the conflict in schedules between the Lebanese league playoffs and this tournament. Moreover the decision to withdraw was easier to take since this WABA tournament doesn't qualify to the Asian Championships but rather the Asian Cup (ex-Stankovic)...

There is some news that Lebanon will participate in this years Jones Cup (not confirmed yet but being discussed).

Another good result for the U18 team

actually it was a tie game after 3 quarters and they just collapsed for 3-4 minutes against Jordan and lost the game. the final result could be different if they had could shoot FTs better, only 28% FT !!

lol poor Rajko, even with almost his complete team and at home he had hard time against an U18 team.
