First, you can do it, since you are investing in much better foreigns. Do you really think that the Israelies will make the difference between winning the title or not?? wrong my friend. Look at the Israeli clubs, each of them barely have 2-3 decent Israelis in the squad, how the hell are they gonna play with the Russian rule?? In Europe you don't have this limit, you can sign 6 foreing + Landesberg and Pnini + Segev & Zalmanson. Maccabi doesn't need to use all their 10 men. but if we saving money in local players, we shouldn't bring Rice & Hickman, we should bring the big names and pay them 1.5-2M. Limited players like Lior, like Raviv, like Yotam are using the Russian rule in order to make x2 salary then what they are actually worth. The sad trueh is that in Israel you do not have too many talented players and those who are talented, aren't better then an average foreign player.

From top balkan prospects there are rumours Dragan Bender 97. will move to Maccabi, Nedim Buza 95. to Fenerbahce. But don't know if it's truth.
                Jordi Bertomeu sucks!

anyway , about israeli, having naimy and halperin is much better than having ely or tyus or ohayon. i mean, even about israeli's players choises, we should analyse mta's decisions

Lampe to Barça apparently, according to "el mundo deportivo".

No idea what's Creus' plan other than signing any big name available.

                        Huertas / Sada
                        Navarro / Oleson / Abrines
                        Papnikolau / Rabaseda / Hezonja
                        Lorbek / Nachbar / Todorovic
                        Tomic / Lampe / Dorsey

Rabaseda or Todorovic would be gone i guess.

No team can play twice a week with a short roster and truly expect the greatest results. Domestically, Maccabi needs to have the best Israeli players available and one young talent, just in case. If you count on just two rotation players and one of them gets injured, you are lost. All better Israeli teams have several good Israeli players. Next season, I'm not sure, whether Jerusalem's or Tel-Avivs Israelis are better, should Hapoel make another key signing.

Eliyahu got over 900.000 € in Spain, Halperin got 1 mio € in Greece. So, nce again, what kind of money aren't they worth? In different times, they can demand different salaries and both have proven to be important players in the EL. I wouldn't pay such figures any of them but figures you mention are completely out of the air. Halperin has signed for 300.000 USD per season right now.

Last but not least, if you don't have qualitative Israeli players, a lot of people will jump off the bandwagon. Maccabi is still an Israeli team, not a toy for foreigners. Aside from competition rules, you need not to turn away fans. Pnini and Landesberg have been like players 8 and 9 last year. You really want to make them the best Israelis on the team? The most important ones? Maccabi is not Afula. They go for the best. Yes, you could get more value for the dollar by signing some American players but, again, this is an Israeli team and it will always rightfully go for Israelis. Domestic players cost more in every country, especially NT players, while the market is full of cheap American players.

I wouldn't be surprised if Obradovic makes a selection like that. First he likes that type of tall guards. Second in Turkey one foreign player has to sit on stands, Westermann won't make problem for that. Third, he is a good at assisting other players, which fenerbahce needs. He can drive to the basket. Only problem is he is not a type of player you can rely on at critical moments of the game for now. He has big potential for the future, great chance to work under a coach like Obradovic (he is a lucky fella first year with Vujosevic who is a big chance for young talents). I would like to see him playing in Turkey....
