Yup, PJ Simon and Kerby Raymundo can potentially give Meralco a short-term boost. I don't know for how long though, as both are advancing in age, more particularly Raymundo. But they would definitely shore up the weak spots in the Bolts' core - an outside shooter and clutch scorer and an interior player. That, coupled with Dillinger's needed offensive improvement, would make Meralco a solid team for a season or two.

The rumored Ross-Rob Reyes-Denok Miranda is legitimate as Air 21 is determined to shore up its PG frontline after giving up Cortez by getting a veteran in Miranda - a prototype PG of Franz Pumaren's liking. Ross is penciled to move to PBB while Reyes will try to shore up Meralco's shallow frontline.

One thing though, the MVP teams have to find a way to make themselves championship contenders. TNT's lineup is aging fast, although they will still contend when you have a Castro, Reyes and RDO in the lineup. MVP teams are weak in the frontline and while this shouldn't be a problem with Chot's DDO, Norman's coaching style is founded on having a solid big man inside. Let's see if the Texters maneuver its way in getting blue chipper slotmen in the draft.

One thing that puzzles me is why in the hell is Petron gonna get a player like Ross? He's not a threat on offense. Plays like Miranda also. Why are they rocking the boat?

Mike made a "merchant" like turnover over Barroca that forced RG to replace him with Ross who plays well in the 1st half..together with Macmac you should make your assets look good in their last game

If you need a ballhandler, Dillinger can do it. Leaving Ross there was the recipe for disaster for them. The Mixers didnt even bother guard him. No matter how creative you are in designing set plays it all goes to waste of you play 4 vs. 5 on offense.

If he disliked Cortez, JD can handle the ball. Wilson or Sunday as floor spacers along with Cardona.

doesn't matter..he didn't win titles for them as much as he should have. he had one title for petron...the time when it was the bench warmers who stepped up. in fact, his constant shuffling and reshuffling did more harm than good..

And once again, this series exposed the risk of getting a Dillinger in the NT. He's energy and defense is nice but with that jumpshot, Chot won't trust him with big minutes or in the crucial part of the game.

And yeah, Meralco is mediocrity at its finest. Until MVP decides this is NOT his Team B they'll be forever be mired in mediocrity

Meralco will be a contender if uichico will coach the team.

Yet they were nothing more than paper tigers during Eala's tenure. "Outmaneuvering" appears to be the correct verb here.

Eala outmaneuvered everybody else by placing the most promising 'assets' in a cookie jar away from everyone else's reach. Non-performing assets for the most part, though. So much hype, so little achievement. Sounds like that Shakespearean comedy - "Much ado about Nothing".

If you say Eala has done wonders, I'd say people did a lot of wondering about how the SMC Group got a poor ROI for all the hoopla Eala generated.

Grundy/ Ildefonso/Agustin (along with Cone/Bowles) allowed Eala to live on borrowed time, but the noose finally tightened last July.

As for "outsmarting", that was done by the non-SMC teams who won championships with "lesser" picks and had the last laugh.
