wasn't Tanduay screwed by unfair officiating, Fil Sham issues and Tan's tirade against Cojuangco owned teams?

Unfair officiating.. Kinda hard of a topic to discuss because its very subjective.. And every team and its supporters will always have this same type of complains..

As far as the other issues goes, what I can remember is that those issues happened later on after the season.. They had one full season to play without being riddled with those issues...

I do remember Tanduay filing for a restraining order against the PBA which halted the Finals for a week or two, men, I hope Sir Jay could enlighhten us with this,

Outside of Menk and Alvarado, Tanduay's lineup isnt that impresive as far as I recall, they had Jason Webb, an aging Pido Jrencio, Bobby Jose, Mark Telan and Chris Cantojos in their maiden PBA season if I remembered correctly

Tanduay lost to Shell 1999 AFC

            Team Standings: (Win - Loss) Mobiline Phone Pals  (11 - 5)   Alaska Milkmen  (9 - 7)   Tanduay Gold Rhum  (9 - 7)   Formula Shell (9 - ...

One of the most memorable game for me when Ginebra upset No. 1 Mobiline with Bal David's game winning shot. During the final's I rooted for shell who were undersized compared to Tanduay. Correct me if I'm wrong Tanduay just joined PBA after conquering PBL beating Asi Taulava's Team (Blu).

I remember that game, Taulava was in tears after the Bal David Buzzer beater, and Ginebra's lineup that year was the definition of underdog with Crisano, Limpot, Locsin, Lago, Caidic, an unknown Helterbrand, David and playing coach Allan Caidic

Jun Limpot was still with Sta. Lucia that time.

Marlou Aquino was with Ginebra that time I remember it because he was battling with Asi Taulava and Andy Seigle. I liked Mobiline's team that season because they were using twin tower lineup of Seigle and Taulava and they have a tall point guard Jerome Ejercito, they also had 3 point specialist Al Solis.

If I recall correctly, TRO came about because the PBA decided to suspend Earl Alvarado to play in the playoff series against Purefoods. The PBA stood its ground, Tanduay opted to play Alvarado, the games that Alvarado played in were forfeited in favor of the Hotdogs, and the latter won the series.

That 1999 Tanduay team was actually a championship waiting for them. But the better Tanduay team was actually in 2001 with Hatfield and Hontiveros on board. Chua's style of coaching is fast-paced, run and gun and focused on player conditioning, allowing them to run 48 minutes every game. It helped a lot having thoroughbreds like Menk, Alvarado, Webb, Rubi, among others.

The same problem befell Chua with Sta. Lucia. When he was with Tanduay, he had two or three great players surrounded by role players. In Sta. Lucia, he had Espino, Aquino and Duremdes with role players all over. Chua didn't fare well because his performance was compared to Norman Black who steered the team to the 2001 Governors' Cup title against SMB, without Duremdes around. Chua never did. A conference or two after Chua left SLR, Boyet Fernandez gave the team its second title.

Hatfield was not a direct hire but a free agent... I think he was just a walk-in... With the way he played in the MBA, no team wanted him.... And the rest was history hehe....

                            • Tanduay back in 1999-2000 was a beast. Chua also build a leagcy with the Stag team in PBL. Should have been back to back all filipino finalist if not for the fil sham fiasco and how they easily defeat purefoods bacck then was unexplainable
