Meet the filipino reinforcements of Saigon Heat! Jai Reyes and fil-am Philip Morrison
The Saigon Heat held a meet and greet with their fans at Tan Binh Stadium over the weekend to introduce their team for the 2013 ASEAN Basketball League season. Their most recent signings are two explosive guards, Phillip Morrison and Jai Reyes. These two players will be one of the most exciting backcourt tandems to watch this upcoming season.
Morrison is a 6'0 combo guard who spent three seasons with the Asbury University who are playing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Morrison has the ability to hurt from the inside and outside. He is able to get to the rim and finish once he's there plus he's also a threat from the 3-point line. During his senior year, Morrison averaged 21.7 points per game while shooting 50% from the field.
Morrison's backcourt partner for next year, Jai Reyes, is a proven scorer as well. Playing 14 games with the Bangkok Cobras last season, Reyes has become a fan favorite instantly. Reyes has proven himself as a lightning fast guard who can create for his teammates and also score the ball very well. The 25 year-old guard averaged 14.3 points per game last season. He even recorded a double-double on March 11 when he dropped 14 points and dished out 10 assists against the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers.
