Ryerson University's Roy Rana will coach Canada's U-18 team. Rana led Canada in capturing a bronze medal at the inaugural 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship.

USA Basketball has announced the preliminary roster of 24 players who will participate to the training camp on June 5-12 in Colorado Springs.

Whilst the players roster doesn't look to be loaded of such talents as the 2010 team, it must be said that two of the top three HS 2012 class players (Shabazz Muhammad and Kyle Anderson) are not eligible for their age.
Glad to see the Harrison twins in the roster, they had good play in France (Tourcoing Tournament) some days ago.

USA team is placed in Group A, together with host Brazil, Mexico and US Virgin Islands.

Here's the complete draw of the preliminary round:

Favorite to qualify are Argentina, Brazil, Canada and USA, who are all evenly split in the two groups, but any surprise is possible.

Its not a very strong group for the U.S. team especially for the 2012 kids. I do like the 2013 kids that are in the pool though, particularly Bird, Randle and the Harrisons.

Argentina and Brazil announced their preliminary rosters:

    http://www.cabb.com.ar/noticia_ficha.php?id=5696
    http://www.cbb.com.br/noticias/showr...sp?artigo=9676

Argentina's 17 invitees list includes all players who participated to the recent Albert Schweitzer tournament in Germany, ending at the 13th place.

P.S. Brazil's center Lucas Silva scored a double-double (18+12 and 4 blocks) in the recent Jordan Brand International game, being named MVP for the winning "White" team.

Brazil and Canada (if A Wiggins is there) could be dangerous rivals to favorite US team.

    Argentina final roster defined:
    http://www.cabb.com.ar/noticia_ficha.php?id=5739

For 9/12 it's the same team that took the 13th place at the recent Albert Schweitzer tournament, plus two U17 players (young star Gabriel Deck and Rodrigo Haag).

Canada Basketball has announced the list of 17 finalists to the training camp for the U18 squad:
    http://www.basketball.ca/jmnt-camp-r...t-camp-p150707

Some surprise comes from the inclusion of 2014 class Trey Lyles (currently playing in Indiana but born in Canada) who is also member of the USA Basketball Developmental roster finalized to the selection of the U17 World's championship team.

USA Basketball announced that 23 players will start training on June 5 to select the final team for the championship. Two players withdrew from previous roster (Gary Harris and Devonta Pollard) and one was added (2013 class Austin Nichols).

Among 23 US players invited to the trials, Jarnell Stokes is the only one with college experience. He graduated from HS earlier and enrolled at Tennessee in Jan 2012, playing 17 games and being named All SEC Freshmen-team.

The US team 14 finalists are here .
Quite surprisingly, the Harrison twins weren't selected, though they already earned international experience having won this year's Tourcoing tournament with team USA.
Later addition Austin Nichols (6-9 PF 2013 class) who is among the 14 finalists, played at the Albert Schweitzer tournament this year finishing 3rd in scoring for US team with 11.2PPG (50%FG) and first in blocks with 1.2.

I can't believe that the Harrisons didn't make the cut- I'm guessing they had some other obligations? I'm not familiar with every single name on this roster but I know most of them and I'm not that impressed with this team on paper. Hopefully Billy Donovan can get them to play to their potential.

17 Canadian hopefuls currently training in Toronto were split in two squads that met yesterday, the White team winning over the Red in a defensive game 56-54.
The winning basket was scored by guard Tyler Ennis. Leading scorers 6-9 PF Trey Lyles for the winners and SF Andrew Wiggins for the Red team. Both are of 2014 class and play in the US, as well as Tyler Ennis who is 2013.

    US final team announced.

PF Austin Nichols and C Joel James were the last cuts.

Now, this team lacks a true center and above all big men (over 6-8/2.03)...

    Final roster here.
