    Korean Basketball League 2012-2013 Season

Exciting things afoot for the league. For starters, the competitive landscape will shift
once again as a new batch of rookies will make their way to their teams. Most notably is Kim Si-Rae,
the first overall pick in the 2012 KBL Draft and he will join Ulsan Mobis Phoebus and be
mentored by superstar, Yang Dong-Geun. Another worth mentioning is Kim Seung-Won who was drafted
third overall by the Goyang Orions, Kim will join Choi Jin-Soo to what looks like a promising
    frontcourt for the future.

    Free agents like
LG's Moon Tae-Young, Samsung's Lee Seung-Jun and KCC's Jeon Tae-Pong will be in new teams
soon. Then the two import per team quota is back.

As for my Changwon LG Sakers, this is the start of a rebuilding phase. We lost Moon Tae-Young as that
void in the wing will not be filled up anytime soon. The Sakers also lost Park Hyung-Chul
for military service, joining the sharpshooting Ki Seung-Ho in the army.

One source of optimism lies with the rookies Cho Sang-Hyul and Park Rae-Hyun. Park's brother,
Park Chan-Hee will be entering the military after winning a championship with Anyang KGC.

Expect the Sakers to be bottom dwellers, if not the last team in the standings.

I would not mind a losing season for a rebuilding team. Eyes on the prize as they say. Maybe by
the 20133 KBL Draft, the Sakers will have the good fortune of drafting Kim Jong-Kyu.

Questions also aimed at Wonju Dongbu Promy like how much Kim Joo-Sung still has in the tank? Can the team overcome the absence of Yoon Ho-Young? As for Anyang KGC, can they repeat minus Park Chan-Hee? Moving past Jeonju KCC Egis, can a healthy Ha Seung-Jin tow them into the playoffs?

    We'll find out.

Sin Je-Rok is back in the league's fold and is a free agent. Sin spent the 2011-2012 season playing in Japan's BJ-League for the Iwate Big Bulls. Sin is looking for a team and is quite open in returning to Anyang KGC.

Wonju Dongbu Promy forward Yoon Ho-Young was named 2011-2012 Most Valuable Player. I applaud the selection though he was competing with Anyang KGC's rookie sensation, Oh Se-Keun and Yoon's teammate, Kim Joo-Sung.

Oh Se-Keun's Rookie of the Year award surprised no one and he further cemented it with this KBL 2012 Finals MVP and his team winning the championship.

There rumors last week that Lee Seung-Jun, Moon Tae-Young and Jon Tae-Pong were considering to play in the Chinese Basketball Association league, but each of them admitted that it is in the KBL that they want to play.

Anyang KGC won the 2011-2012 KBL Championships. Wonju Dongbu Promy won the regular season with the best record during the regular season. Wonju's Yoon Ho-Young won the regular season most valuable player. Anyang's Oh Se-Keun won the finals MVP and rookie of the year.

Rumors swirling that retired and former KBL All-Star Bang Sung-Yoon is making a comeback. Bang started training recently in the Samsung training facility in Seoul. He has been training with former national team teammate and current Samsung point guard Kim Seung-Hyun.

It is rumored that Samsung's management is evaluating the scenario of signing Bang to a contract.

Samsung Thunder veteran star Kim Seung-Hyun told Naver-sports that he welcomes the potential addition of Bang Sung-Yoon into the lineup.

At this point, long term health is the question on Bang if he will be coming back and if the Thunder will sign him. Then again, Samsung has just lost bigman Lee Seung-Jun and would need every available talent they can field. Bang is a veteran that can still shoot. Though Bang has lost the athleticism that he once banked on, Bang could still contribute at this point. Again, provided if he is healthy and his legs could endure the rigors of the season.

Samsung Thunder guard Lee Jung-Suk has been rehabbing and working himself into form for the coming season. Lee ended his season early when he went down with an ACL injury. Lee is looking to comeback strong this season under new head coach Lee Sang-Min and manager Kim Dong-Kwang.

I expect Lee to start as the point guard while the veteran Kim Seung-Hyun could serve as backup. Eventually, both could be fielded at at the same time, but it is a gamble worth noting as Lee and Kim makes an undersized back-court.

At that setup, Kim will be point guard while Lee will play shooting guard.

Rumor has it that the Changwon LG Sakers are interested in acquiring the services of Goyang Orions center Lee Dong-Jun.

The Sakers may as well pursuit Lee and arrange a trade with Goyang for Seo Jang-Hoon. Seo will provide the veteran leadership that the Orions will need for Choi Jin-Soo and rookie center Kim Seung-Won.

This solves the Sakers depth at power forward wherein Lee can play power forward as the Sakers are expected to add a center via the import market.
