Former James Madison standout Dawn Evans, the NCAA 3rd high scorer in the 2010-11 season and CAA Player of the Year, who went undrafted by WNBA last year, has been added to this year's Connecticut Sun roster.

Affected by a serious illness diagnosed in 2009, she played part of the 2011-12 season for an European club in Austria and was then signed in March by Conn Sun to a training camp contract.

LA Sparks topped Seattle Storm in the WNBA opener 72-66, behind 25 pts by Kristi Toliver.
Storm currently play without Lauren Jackson, engaged in Australia with the Opals.

It was a costly victory for the defending WNBA champions, the Minnesota Lynx as Seimone Augustus will be playing with a rib injury sustained in the third quarter. Still, Augustus paved the way with 19 points to lead the Lynx past the Phoenix Mercury 105-83.

A bad start for Cappie Pondexter and the New York Liberty as they are now 0-3.

Fine overall performance by Candace Parker in yesterday's win of LA Sparks over Seattle Storm with 21pts, 10 reb, 4ast and 6blocks.

I like the LA Sparks this year. Parker is playing rejuvenated perhaps by the rookie Ogwumike. I am looking forward to their match-up with the Minnesota Lynx. A potential western conference finals preview.

                    Los Angeles Sparks 84
                    Minnesota Lynx 92

The defending champions, Lynx overcame the twenty points plus output of the Sparks' Toliver, Parker and Ogwumike as they outlast the Sparks. Seimone Augustus lead the Lynx with 25 points.

Augustus' best WNBA season ever, probably.

I remember reading an article in Slam Magazine about Seimone last year and how she was working on accomplishing team goals and having a legacy.

                        Here's the link...

The first five years were good individually. Now, Seimone Augustus is building her legacy by focusing on team goals.

A month long break is coming up. This is to accommodate the London Olympics on which several stars will be suiting up for the national team.

                            Minnesota Lynx 79
                            Washington Mystics 77

The Lynx let a 20 point lead evaporate as the Mystics mounted a strong surge. Lynx held on for the close victory to be undefeated with 5-0.
