Season just started and injury-toll is already heavy.
Here's a list (for sure incomplete) of season-ending injuries that have affected starters or notable freshmen from preseason to last week:
Madison Williams, Michigan State, So, C, ACL 3rd time
Katie Collier, Washington, Fr, F/C, ACL
Aly Beebe, Stanford, Fr, F, ACL 2nd time
Asya Bussie, West Virginia, Sr, C, ACL
Stephanie Holzer, Vanderbilt, Jr, F/C, dislocated knee
Brene Moseley, Maryland, So, PG, ACL
Laurin Mincy, Maryland, Jr, G, ACL
Eugenia McPherson, St John's, Sr, ACL

Torn ACL is by far the most frequent serious injury especially in women's basketball.

With a 7-0 record, Utah had an excellent season's start and is led by two Canadians, Jr Michelle Plouffe and RS Jr Taryn Wicijowski, who are averaging over 17ppg. Both players already earned international experience with Canada NT, Plouffe with the 2011 U19 and 2012 Senior NT and Wicijowski with the 2009 U19.

Natalie Achonwa, another Canadian, led Notre Dame (109-70 vs Utah State) with 23 pts (10/13 FG) + 12 reb.
Achonwa, a Junior and Senior Canadian NT player, is now the leading Notre Dame's all scorers together with top freshman Jewell Loyd (2010 U17 USA World champion).

Following in her older sister's Nneka footsteps, Chiney Ogwumike scored a career-high 31pts on 14/18 shooting and collected 13 reb in Stanford's 78-43 win over Pacific. It was the sixth straight double-double recorded by the junior All-American. Chiney and Nneka played internationally together winning the gold medal at the 2011 World University games.

Italian sf Marta Masoni is just a freshman at CSU Northridge, but has got plenty of international experience at junior level as former U18 European champion (2010) and U19 NT member (2011). She currently is the 2nd best team's scorer and has so far started all season's games.

Gran Canaria's Leonor Rodriguez, a senior guard at Florida State Univ, is leading her team in scoring and steals, while shooting an impressive 51.5% from the field.
Leonor won a silver medal for Spain at the 2009 U19 World championships and earned the gold at the 2011 U20 Euro.

At first glance, it might seem Leonor Rodriguez tripling her scoring average from a season ago might have come out of nowhere. But emerging as one of the ACC's best players is a fitting end to a college career for someone who crossed an ocean just to get to Florida State.
