Lee Sang-Beom's words echoed: "I will take in consideration of the future on the team". The so called "Youth Oriented" national team will be a realization as Lee seems to be in line with the suggestion of several quarters in using the Olympic qualifying tournament and the preparations for the 2013 FIBA Asia World Cup qualifying tournament.

Expect a lot of young players on the pool if Lee does stay true to his statements.

I am expecting four or five Anyang KGC players in the pool. Kim Tae-Sol's possible inclusion could be very surprising.

Free agent and national team bigman Lee Seung-Jun spoke highly of Oh Se-Keun (Anyang KGC), Choi Jin-Soo (Goyang Orions) and Kim Sung-Hyun (Seoul SK Knights) as bright young talents for the future of the national team.

Asked if Lee would like to play in the London Olympic Qualifying tournament, Lee said absolutely.

Jumpball's editors had a mock pool written up:

              Centers

              Ha Seung Jin
              Kim Joo-Sung
              Kim Jong-Kyu
              Kim Jon-Il
              Kim Min-Uk
              Lee Jong-Hyun

              Power Forwards

              Lee Seung-Jun
              Choi Jin-Soo
              Oh Sek-Eun
              Ham Ji-Hoon
              Lee Seung-Hyun
              Jang Jae-Sok

              Small Forwards

              Moon Tae-Jong
              Moon Tae-Young
              Yun Ho-Young
              Yang Hee-Jong

              Shooting Guards

              Kim Sun-Hyung
              Cho Sung-Min
              Park Chan-Hee
              Kang Byung-Hyun
              Jeong Yong-Sam
              Lee Kwang-Jae

              Point Guards

              Yang Dong-Geun
              Kim Tae-Sol
              Jon Tae-Pong

Good choices in all. Though I may not agree on their position listings, but the guys over at jumpball took priority on nurturing the young bigmen of the amateur ranks. Though I would have included Cho Bo-Kyoung as a prospect.

Obviously most of the names doesn't look familiar to me but are there any important players missing? I'm interesting how optimal S.Korean NT will be in Qualifiers, what to expect from them. Is it just preparations for upcoming tournaments without any hopes for surprises or do they has any?

One such player missing is Ha Seung-Jin. It was more of a coaching decision of Ha's non-inclusion as the latter has also been injury plagued for the past couple of seasons due to offseason international competitions for the past two years. Even the coaching staff admits that qualifying for the London Olympics is a long shot given the groupings and the presence of other countries as well.

Then there is Moon Tae-Jong, who was quite good in the 2011 FIBA at WuHan. Helped the team in so many ways. His non-inclusion surprised a lot. Moon's younger brother Moon Tae-Young was not included as well. I personally thought that the younger Moon will be called up in consideration, but it was not so. Age could have been a factor on their names not being drawn up.

Tune-ups or foreign trips are not disclosed as of now, given budget constraints. Not much can be expected from South Korea at this time as they are thinking about next year's 2013 FIBA Asia Qualifiers for the World Cup.

Thnx for the answer. Those three missing players were exactly the ones I knew the best Not to include Moon Tae-Jong (it's still weird to me to call J.Stevenson like that ) is indeed strange decision. He's not the youngster, but in such tournament with his big international experience could be really helpful, maybe not to win, but atleast to give a fight, to give some boost to younger teammates for the future. Well it is like it is, anyways it'll be interesting to see S.Korean NT on international stage, it's been a while since the last time I saw them competing on such level tournament

Alot of Korean basketball sites are in captivated by the timid bigman named Lee Jong-Hyun. He has become somewhat a house hold name given that 42 rebounds game. Probably the bigman with the most potential right next after Kyung-Hee's Kim Jong-Kyu. A lot of fans even call him the Korean Kevin Love, which is quite silly at this point. One thing is certain though, he will add muscles and mass once he steps into the senior national team training.
