Philippine Patriots open ASEAN League campaign with win - Jan 14, 2012 (by Eurobasket News)

Philippine Patriots - Bangkok Patriots 86:58

Philippine Patriots clinched the opening win at ASEAN League season. They fired past Bangkok Patriots at home court in the opener. Nakiea Miller (204-C-79, college: Iona) stepped up with 24 points and 18 rebounds to pace the winners.
The Patriots secured a 22:18 lead after intensive first ten minutes in the game. The hosts took over in the second period. They limited the league debutants to only 5 points in the quarter building a massive 51:23 halftime lead. The Bangkok Cobras cut the deficit to 16 points in the third term but the Patriots never allowed their opponents any closer racing to the victory at the end. Anthony Johnson (197-G/F-79, agency: Interperformances, college: La-Lafayette) added 17 points for the winners. Bruce Brown (213-C-83, college: Hampton) answered with 11 points for the Cobras. Marvin Cruz (173-G-84), Darongpan Apiromvilaichai (185-G-85) and Gentry Lewis (206-F/C-81, college: Philander Smith) had 9 points apiece in defeat.

Philippine Patriots: Nakiea Miller 24+18 boards, Anthony Johnson 17, Warren Ibanez (180-G-71) 9
Bangkok Cobras: Bruce Brown 11, Marvin Cruz 9

@NoliEala sir noli, is Chris Banchero still with the ABL San Miguel team? I didn't see his name in the roster on the ABL website....

          Noli Eala @NoliEala
@mikhailblaze Yes Chris is in our 16 man lineup. He's just nursing a slight injury.

New season, same old ABL: pass the ball to your imports and let them take 80% of the attempts. LOL.

They should really limit the number of non-Asean import to just 1.

Critical turnover by Junemar in the dying minutes of the game. He cost the Beermen their 1st game.

Nic Belasco with 2 clutch baskets, 1 in the 4th, 1 in OT.

KL Dragons and SMB on right now.

                    79 - 75 OT

SMB imports have been playing subpar in contrast of the terrific performance of their counterparts.
stat wise, Fajardo looks to be playing well. on the other hand Chris Pacana is playing well for the Dragons.

                    EDIT:
This ones in the bag, 81 - 77 Dragons with 19 secs to go.

Well, there are other chances to win the game... and Junmar was not the one who wasted all of them. Other SMB players also cost the game for their team.

Junmar played well ...8 pts (4 for 5 Fg), 7 rbs and 2 blocks.... not bad at all!

Nice to see Chester Tolomia back in action. Jojo Tangkay and Noy Javier should also join the ABL.

Noy Javier tried out for San Miguel Beermen and Indonesia Warriors but had not gotten a contract offer.
