we're trying to work on somthing.

wow why do I feel it would be a Indonesia vs Malaysia ABL Championship and that there will be no Philippine representative at the FIBA ASIA Champions Cup because of this.

Well, I think the Beermen would pull through. The Pats, on the other hand, feels iffy.

Are you telling us that we will 'on purpose' be absent in the Asian stage?
Did Noli Eala agree on this? (well he should! his team is not that strong and will be destroyed by an average of 25pts. Except for the brand pubicity, there is no other good thing for his team!).
I feel that we should really boycot the champions cup. We will not see a PBA team there anyway. And it doesn't give FIBA points anyway!
And it will not be beneficial for us anymore(no more training ground for our NT!) since it only acknowledges FIBA sanctioned teams like ABL teams.

          A)
First, i would like for teh Phil. Pats to enter the finals so that our national team(chot's team) would replace them in the champions cup.
Then SMB entering the finals too so that we'll see Stanley Pringle and Chris Banchero teaming up for San Miguel against the asian clubs. And a possible clash with our national team. Astig diba?!
          B) if A happens, there will be no Banchero vs Pringle in the ABL finals.
          C) Phil. Pats will be destroyed by IW. IW will enter the finals. SMB still has chance. IF its gonna be IW vs SMB in the finals, i would not like to see SMB,as philippines' representative in the FIBA Asia Champioins cup. They got the name of SMB with them. a FORMER PBA club team name which has the most championship ever won. Them being blasted in the asian stage would be a repeat of 2004 destruction. It will be a big blow on the name of our country. Face it, they are not the same club in the PBA(which is Petron now) but they carry the name and not all people knows that. IW wont stand a chance in Champions cup. They will lose their filipino imports including pringle.
          D) if sir nardy's plan happens, then that's good. But what will be the alternative for our national team then? stint in europe? americas?

Rival the Champions cup with a FIBA-APAC(asia-pacific) champions cup?! To be called MVP champions cup?!
OR play against NBA teams before the season starts(no change in schedule since Champions cup is also in october)?

What's the grand plan sir nardy? any hint?

          • Slowly but surely.. the fact that mediocre Philippine players representing Philippines in this league would not be enough

I hope IW battles SMB in the finals because IW would just destroy the Dragons
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

hey guys dont make any conspiracy theories, all I am saying I have a feeling both Indonesia and Malaysia would pull an upset and set-up an ABL Championship series that has no Philippine team.

Based on the games I saw, our teams even though are much better the players seem to be not that commited or motivated. I could not see the fire, a lot of times they are lazy to play defense and while on court would just let the imports do all the work. Anyway thats just my opinion. But guys do not make any intrigues about the matter. As stated before SEABA ruled that teams representing the top 2 countries in the ABL would represent the Southeast Asia subzone in the FIBA ASIA Champions Cup, so if Malaysia and Indonesia is to play in the FINALS, that means both the teams of the Philippines is not among the Top 2 teams. It is as simple as that.

ABL: Warriors complete clean sweep to enter Finals

JAKARTA, Indonesia (ABL Season 3): Indonesia Warriors advanced to the Finals of the ABL for the second time in three years beating AirAsia Philippine Patriots 72-51 on Sunday to complete a 2-0 sweep of the semifinals.

The Warriors, who last Sunday won Game 1 of the series 73-64, had finished runners-up to the Patriots in Season 1, but failed to make the play-offs last season.

Steve Thomas (pic above) led all scorers steering Warriors’ win with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

Evan Brock had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors.

Nakiea Miller was the Patriots’ scoring leader with 12 points, followed by Anthony Johnson’s 11.

The Patriots will miss the ABL final for the first time since the league started.

The Patriots picked the wrong time to go cold from the field.

The Warriors now await the winners of the other semifinal series between San Miguel Beermen and Westports Malaysia Dragons, which has stretched into Game 3. San Miguel Beermen won last Saturday to take the lead by winning Game 1, but the Dragons bounced back a week later winning Game 2 to force the decider.

Warriors Advance to Finals Following 72-51 Win Over Patriots

After finishing fifth last season the Indonesia Warriors advanced to the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball Season 3 Finals after they defeated the AirAsia Philippine Patriots 72-51 earlier this afternoon. This will be Indonesia’s second trip to the final after finishing as runner-ups in the first season.

Steve Thomas was the game’s leading scorer with 19 points and 15 rebounds followed closely by Evan Brock’s 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors. Nakiea Miller was the Patriots’ score leader with 12 pts, followed by Anthony Johnson’s 11 for the Patriots who will miss the ABL final for the first time since the league started.

The Patriots picked the wrong time to go cold from the field. The Patriots scoring woes continued in this game as although they were generous with the attempts, the Patriots were simply unable to find the basket and converted just 9 out of 36 field goal attempts and only one out of 17 three point attempts in the first half. The Patriots were scoreless for nearly five minutes in the second quarter before Anthony Johnson put one in at the 5:10 minute mark. They went on to score only six points in the entire second period.

The Warriors were a little bit better, shooting at 38% from the field, which earned them the 13 point lead going into the halftime break. The Pringle-Brock combo was lethal in the first half and caused the Patriots all sorts of problems then drove it home with a stunning alley oop dunk from Pringle to Brock which got the crowd up on their feet late in the second quarter. Pringle then put in the last basket of the first half to send the Warriors into the halftime break with a 32-19 lead.

It was a more exciting second half which the Patriots entered on a 6 point run that quickly trimmed the Warriors lead down to just 7 points only to have Allan Salangsang answer with a 3 to give his team back a double digit lead. The Patriots continued to determinedly chase the lead but the Warriors were not about to let their home crowd down and entered the fourth quarter with a comfortable 49 to 36 lead.

The Warriors continued to dominate in the fourth quarter and the Patriots weren’t able to get closer than 10 points. To make matters worse, Anthony Johnson limped off with 1:49 left on the clock as their other import Miller was already sitting on 4 personal fouls. It was all about the Warriors as the clock wound down and the Warriors advanced to the AirAsia ABL Season 3 Finals with the 72-51 win and a 2-0 record in their playoff series. Now the Warriors will be watching Game 3 of the San Miguel Beermen and Westports Malaysia Dragons series closely next Saturday the 9th of June to see who they will face in the finals.

                            Warriors: Steve Thomas – 19pts, Evan Brock – 16pts, Mario Wuysang – 8pts, Stanley Pringle – 8pts, Rony Gunawan – 7pts, Allan Salangsang – 6pts, Jerick Canada – 3pts, Amin Prihantono – 3pts, Arki Wisnu – 2pts.

                            Patriots: Nakiea Miller – 12pts, Anthony Johnson – 11pts, Francis Adriano – 6pts, Al Vergara – 5pts, Eddie Laure – 4pts, Robert Wainwright – 3pts, Warren Ybanez – 2pts, Jonathan Fernandez – 2pts, John Aldrech Ramos – 2pts, Marcy Arellano – 2pts, Angelus Raymundo – 2pts.

                            1st Qtr 16-13 2nd Qtr 32-19 3rd Qtr 49-36 4th Qtr 72-51

                            • To be fair with the patriots they did not choke... in the regular season IW destroyed them also at home and with the talent they have although deeper by 2 or 3 menthey have no player to match up with Steve Thomas and the talent level of IW top 4 guys(Steve, Brock, Wuysang and Pringle)..

Hopefully Junmar Fajardo can handle the additional responsibility, you cannot rely on Nick fazekas of all people to achor your defense thats the dilemma they need to face for opting another scorer of an import
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

Hopefully Junmar Fajardo can handle the additional responsibility, you cannot rely on Nick fazekas of all people to achor your defense thats the dilemma they need to face for opting another scorer of an import
for San Miguel to win the local players must have their mind on the game and are willing to do the dirty job. They should play as a team and not let Fazekas, Crews, Banchero and Avenido do everything .... its a common attitude problem with some Pinoy players have when there are other players receiving higher compensation they would not play at the same level for the reason that since those other players are paid better they should do more of the work. Thats why in the PBA they just make the imports do everything which is not the way in the Euroleague, Australia's NBL or at the South American leagues.
