Many believe that the Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to exercise the Amnesty Clause on the contract of veteran guard Baron Davis. Common sense tells us that the amnesty clause is there give NBA teams the chance to get rid of a bloated contract; hence Baron Davis and his contract fits the description well. Other sports writers argue that the Cavaliers would not exercise the clause to Davis as the two primary reasons are: (a) The Cavs are not cash strapped (b) The Cavs are not in full re-building mode and is just a team in transition, wherein they are re-building but would like to retain the veterans on the team.

We will see on what happens and how the Cavaliers may or may not exercise the amnesty clause on Baron Davis. If not Davis then it could be the second candidate: Antawn Jamison. Rather unlikely, but we'll see.

On Ramon Sessions, I believe that Sessions is not on the trading block. The arrival of Kyrie Irving does not fully make Sessions a redundant presence on the floor. Sessions is more of a shooting guard that is quite trigger happy and attacks the opposition. Keeping Sessions would ensure a spark plug in the Cavaliers' offense.

I managed to catch the replay of the Cavaliers game where Kyrie Irving debuted. Irving had rookie jitters where his decision making and shot selection had botches. But his ability to drive to the rim and fish out fouls were most impressive.

As the season progresses, I look for Irving to play more balanced in terms of taking charge in the play orchestrating.

Casspi in his first game with the Cavaliers (or at least first pre-season game) led his team with 18pts (8/11FG) and 5 rebounds.

The shooting woes continue for rookie Kyrie Irving. On his first NBA Game, Irving carried over his shooting slump by going 2-12 in the floor. Irving was also 1-5 from long distance. Tallying 6 points in all but had 6 assists and a steal to contribute to the team.

Decision making will be crucial for Irving if he is to be the floor general of the team. Irving need not shoot more as a rookie point guard. Play-making and play-calling are his strengths in college and he needs to carry that over to the Cavaliers team.

Rookie Kyrie Irving doing better on his second NBA Game. 14 points (5/9 FG | 4-4 FT) with 7 assists and 4 rebounds. 3 turnovers for the least. Irving played more of a point guard today as Cleveland routed the Detroit Pistons 105-89.

Rookies Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson doing well tonight as the Cavaliers win against the Charlotte Bobcats 115-101.

Irving looking like more of a floor leader with 20 points and 6 assists to finish the game as the team's leading scorer. Thompson had 16 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks off the bench.
