Yi Jianlian said in an interview that he is not thinking about the next NBA season and instead he is focused for the upcoming London Olympics. Yi also added that his role with the team has changed since the 2008 Beijing Olympics where Yao Ming was still playing.

Yi will be China's flagbearer in London
Chinese flag bearers at Olympics Opening Ceremony
1984 Los Angeles: Wang Libin
1988 Seoul: Song Tao
1992 Barcelona: Song Ligang
1996 Atlanta & 2000 Sydney: Liu Yudong
2004 Athens & 2008 Beijing: Yao Ming
2012 London: Yi Jianlian
All men's basketball players. I did think they should change it for once to a female athlete, since female athletes achieve more in the Olympics for China, but they went with tradition, even though Chinese men's basketball has never come close to a medal. Hope he will put up fitting statistics, he has the abilities just needs more consistency.aim low, score high

I read an interview some months back about Rick Carlisle (Mavs head coach) and Mark Cuban stating that they are interested in bringing back Yi. I don't know if that interest has waned though.Sacramento Kings

Yi Urged Rationality in Anti-Japan Protest
Chinese basketball star Yi Jianlian has issued an online call for a freeze on the vandalism amid protests over Japan's "purchase" of China's Diaoyu Islands.
"The property damaged in the looting all belongs to our compatriots. Please stop the recklessness which is hurting our own people!" he wrote on his Sina Weibo on Saturday.
Since the Japanese government reached a deal on the purchase of the Diaoyu Islands with the Kurihara family whom it called "the private owner" on September 11, waves of protests have broken out in many parts of China, where irrational patriots damaged everything Japanese-related, from cars to restaurants, seriously disturbing the social order.
China called for people to express their demands in a "legal and rational way". It also announced on Sunday it will submit a partial submission concerning the outer limits of the continental shelf to the United Nations in its latest move to defend its maritime sovereignty.Sacramento Kings

Yi Jianlian returns to CBA
NBA basketball star Yi Jianlian has returned to his homeland to help Guangdong win the Chinese basketball championships, sohu.com reported.
The 24-year-old, who has most recently played for the Dallas Mavericks in the US, has signed a one year deal for the coming CBA season, according to Liu Hongjiang, general manager of Guangdong team.
Yi will travel to Taipei on Sept 25 to watch his teammates play in the 2012 ABA Championship.
Yi had performed well in the 2012 London Olympics, with 14.8 points and 10.2 rebounds each game. He returned to the US after the summer Games, but was unable to secure a place in the NBA ahead of the new season. It was reported a number of European teams showed interest, but Yi decided to return home.
Yi played in NBA for five years for the Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks. On average, he got 7.9 points and 4.9 rebounds every 22.2 minutes. His best performance was in the 09-10 season, when he contributed to the Brooklyn Nets 12 points and 7.1 rebounds each game.
Yi has signed a full season contact with Guangdong, which means he will play for the team until next March to April. He hopes to help Guangdong win the CBA championships and return to the NBA next summer.Sacramento Kings

I just remembered that Yi Jianlian and Terrence "T-Will" Williams were teammates back in the 2009-10 season for the New Jersey Nets. Now Guangdong is on a good winning streak. With that realization, I'll watch more GST games.Sacramento Kings

Yi and Guangdong are on the brink of a championship. Great to see Yi Jianlian playing at a good level at this point of the year. For the past four seasons in the NBA, Yi was either injured, getting DNPs or his team playing for nothing.Sacramento Kings
