Trade Rumor mills guards to swap kits

Disclaimer: Take this with a grain of salt.

Someone PM'd me that two teams, Team P and Team R, were working on a trade involving two guards. In the rumored swap, the SOUTHPAW GUARD is set to go to Team R, while HEARTTHROB GUARD is Team P-bound.

The SOUTHPAW GUARD can be associated with a TAXI. The HEARTTHROB GUARD needs no further introduction since the word heartthrob alone is a gimme.

Too bad also that the supposed "rumor" being spread failed to cover one area why this isn't workable.

Alex Cabagnot has already played for Yeng Guiao at Burger King a few seasons ago. And this didn't pan out. Hence, it just doesn't make sense - it's near improbable that this will work.

    1. Team owners Que and Yu believe that their most precious asset in the roster is Chris Tiu for all the intangibles he brings with. ROS fans probably doubled with the arrival of Tiu in the team.

    2. Yeng Guiao's non-fondness for Cabagnot.

These are the only people capable of making that move possible. And with both sides, it won't work.

Plus I don't know how will Tiu make Petron better. Cabagnot is more skilled & have the edge in experience. On marketing side maybe Petron can use Tiu.

For Alex Cabagnot on RoS, he can be the starting PG of the team and have Lee play the SG. Gabe Norwood seems to be ineffective as a PG on the offense. He lost his aggressiveness when he plays PG. But again, Coach Yeng has to decide if he will accept the trade.

Another thing is Chris Tiu feels Ramon Ang is no fan of his, that's why he dropped so low in the last PBA Rookie Draft after being bypassed by SMC teams for some other player. And whatever transaction of any SMC team needs Ang's blessing.

on a different note .... I wonder why Aldrech Ramos is not being used by Luigi Trillo ????

plus Cabagnot is not your pass 1st PG. he dribbles alot that result to hurried shots for him or gets turnover.

agree! At least Cone gave Ramos some scrub time, but Trillo just made him disappear...considering that Ramos was fresh from San Mig, couldn't he have been used even sparingly because of his familiarity with San Mig plays?? sayang tuloy. Ramos' stock is falling fast as a result.

Ginebra keen to turn on heat in Governors Cup with import lowhorn

THE PBA Governors Cup is still months away, but Barangay Ginebra has already gained the commitment of former Saigon Heat import Dior Lowhorn to reinforce the Gin Kings in the season-ending tournament, sources said.

Listed at 6-7 in the US, Lowhorn was among the top performers in the Asean Basketball League this season with averages of 26.7 points and 8.42 rebounds with the lowly Heat.

However, Lowhorn reportedly suffered a knee injury in a game against San Miguel Beer last April 17 and has since returned to the US for treatment and therapy.

The Heat, in fact, had to get a league waiver to bring in Justin Howard as a replacement since it was already past the deadline for import changes in the regional basketball league.

But sources said Lowhorn had already committed to play for the Gin Kings in the PBA before he returned to the US for treatment.

As early as May 9, San Miguel Corp. director Noli Eala has already announced on his Twitter account that he has already secured a commitment from an import to suit up for Ginebra in the Governors Cup.

Lowhorn had a stellar career at University of San Francisco (USF) where he broke the school record of NBA legend Bill Russell as the fastest to reach 1,000 points.

Undrafted in the 2010 draft, the 25-year-old also had stints in leagues in Belgium, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Venezuela and Ukraine where he had the chance to team up with Fil-Am Stanley Pringle.

Petron looking to tap former Rain or Shine reinforcement Arizona Reid as import for Governors Cup

MANILA - After another disappointing campaign this conference, fans of the Petron Blaze Boosters are certainly one of the most upset.

In fact, some of them even think that the management is not doing anything to further the cause of their beloved team.

“Wala akong nadidinig masyado sa team namin. Yung ibang koponan na eliminated na, you will notice may mga import preference na for next conference,” said Paul Samson, a longtime Petron fan from Davao City.

“Sana naman magkaruon ng magandang campaign next conference,” he said.

But don’t look now, Solar Sports Desk learned that the Blaze Boosters are silently preparing for war.

A source bared that the Boosters are eyeing former Best Import awardee Arizona Reid as one of their prospects for the Governors’ Cup.

Reid lead the Rain or Shine Elastopainters to the semis of the 2011 Governor’s Cup, where he averaged 28.67 points, 15.42 rebounds and 4.17 assists per game.

As he was not tapped by Rain or Shine in the 6-5 height limit conference, Petron will not have problems acquiring the 2007 US NCAA Big South Conference Player of the Year.

Solar Sports Desk was also given a list of other import prospects of Petron that includes former Miami Heat forward Bobby Jones, Rio Grande Vipers star DJ Kennedy, University of Texas San Antonio wingman John Millsap and veteran international campaigner Jimmy Baxter.

The same source denied reports that the Petron management is looking at Governors’ Cup champion import Anthony Grundy.

“We would want to bring him (Grundy) back kaso masyado siyang maliit para sa third conference,” said the source of the 6-1 Grundy.

Even former reinforcement Gabe Freeman is not in the list as he was once measured at ¼ inch more than the 6-5 limit of the season-ending tourney.

Petron will decide on import choice in the next few days or after coach Olsen Racela returns from the States.

The Blaze Boosters return to practice on June 3.

What's the height limit for imports next conference? Barako Bull's import didn't have impressive numbers in the D-League.

    http://www.spin.ph/sports/basketball...n-says-san-mig

The Untouchable injury plagued Yap not tradable despite playoffs letdown says San Mig

JAMES Yap may be a disappointment during the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs, but San Mig Coffee management is standing by its main man no matter what.

Team governor Rene Pardo told Spin.ph the organization understands injuries had slowed down the two-time league MVP in the mid-season tournament, but there's no way San Mig will part with its franchise player.

“James is not tradeable,” said Pardo emphatically. “He’s not only the face of San Mig Coffee, he’s also the face of the league.”

“It would have been different siguro if we had a 100 percent James Yap (during the semis),” added Pardo, obviously referring to the early exit of the deposed champion after losing its best-of-five series to Alaska, 3-1.

““Pero just the same, we will not make any excuses. Malakas talaga na team ang Alaska.”

Pardo bared Yap is still undergoing rigid therapy to help him recover quickly from a nagging back problem that caused a huge drop in his point production in the playoffs and forced him to sit out Game Four of the semifinal series against Alaska.

During the semis, the 31-year-old pride of Negros, Escalante registered career’ playoff lows of 7.33 points, 4.33 rebounds, and .67 assists.

San Mig coach Tim Cone, however, considers the current injury woes of the team’s superstar as a temporary setback.

“He’s improving. The five weeks off we have will really help him a lot. I expect him to come back. He just had a tough conference, mentally and physically,” said Cone.

“We know he’ll get away from it all. Get off on his own for a little bit, get out of the public eye and I think that will refresh him,” added the one-time Grand Slam champion coach.

Asked if Yap is dispensable, Cone was adamant.

“No! No way we’ll trade him. We don't even think about it - ever!” Cone said. “James is a great guy and I love coaching him. There’s no reason for him to want to be traded or even for our organization.

"We expect him to bounce back next conference,” he added.

Blakely will return as San Mig Coffee import

Cone told Solar Sports Desk that they have decided to call back the high-flying Blakely to once more help the team’s cause.

“He’s coming back. He’s arriving in July. We went to the finals with him (so we decided to again give him a call),” said the grand slam coach.

“We went to a game 7 championship with him. We just fell short because he fouled out early in the fourth quarter, so we want to give him another opportunity,” added Cone.

In his 2012 third conference campaign with the then BMEG Llamados, the 6-5, 220-lb forward registered impressive numbers of 22.36 points, 13.36 rebounds, 3.27 assists, 2.73 steals and 2.55 blocks per game.

Unfortunately, the Mixers lost the crown to the Jamelle Cornley-led Rain or Shine Elastopainters, 4 games to 3.

“He is a guy who brings chemistry to the team. We liked him. He has great work ethic. We’re looking forward to bring him back,” said Cone, whose team suffered a disappointing title defense in the ongoing Commissioner’s cup, losing to the Alaska Aces in the semis.

Blakely is expected to arrive in the country sometime in July.

Aside from San Mig, other teams which already announced the names of their imports are Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (Dior Lowhorn) and Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters (Tony Mitchell).

Cornley will not be given a chance to defend his best import plum as management of Rain or Shine already decided to part ways with the wide-bodied wingman after a brush with the law last March.

Petron is said to be eyeing former Rain or Shine reinforcement Arizona Reid, though team sources say there are also a number of prospects on the list.

    TICKING TIME BOMB

    By SNOW BADUA

    4:19 pm | Monday, May 20th, 2013

Just trade both Arwind/Jwash to sister teams(GSM/Mixers) for 1st round pick for the upcoming draft!

A couple of points as to why it would not be Arwind:

1.) SMC has always made good on its promises to its players, even to the point of spoiling them. Furthermore, Arwind has been the recipient of incentives from SMC even before he was playing for the organization, so no reason for him to be left out this time.

2.) He has not been involved in any trade rumor recently nor in the past four years.

    It most likely is Japeth...
