  • Deja Bulls

I listened to the radio coverage of the first game last night at the point when Barako Bull was leading Talk N Text 52-39.

I caught the last six minutes at home.

The Barako Bulls are contending, led by former Red Bull stalwarts Willie Miller and Mick Pennisi, and ably supported by their two former UST rookies Dylan Ababou and Allein Maliksi.

It is refreshing to see a former 0-8 team now contending.

It was deja vu to see the team play with intensity and purpose.

I just hope management does not dismantle the team again by selling its players to the other PBA teams.

Dont get it wrong this Barako Bull is the team which was formerly known as Air 21 the Barako before was now named Shopinas.com.

Air 21 was 0-8 last conference. He knows what he's talking about

C'mon! He's playing the 4/5 position and can't grabbed a single rebound against smaller counter parts. Even Gilbert Lao will school Japeth if he went up against him in the paint.

For the first time I agree with Galj...

How can you compare the minutes played by a 6"9' to a Jimmy Alapag who was on vacation, has jet lag, and who was not supposed to play that game.

Another comparison is to Fonacier who they are not playing the same position either?

How about compare him to Alley Peek that game? Will you? Or Harvey Carey who he is playing the same position?

For a big man like japeth i believe he will fit well with Tim Cone's style. He polished Thoss and Eiman to use their abilty to play better basketball.

Yeng, is more on Tubid & Valenzuela type of player that he can.

                • Of course I am aware of the convoluted ancestries of Barako Bull Energy (formerly Air 21 Express); and Shopinas.com (formerly Barako Bull Energy Boosters).

Given Shopinas' sordid history, I may find a single win by that team remarkable.

But I am glad to see Barako Bull (the former Air 21 team) play with gusto last night. It has a solid front line in Pennisi, Dorian Peña and Don Allado. It has good wing men in Maliksi and Ababou. It has a certified long bomber in Sunday Salvacion. Solid backcourt in Willie Miller and Paul Artadi.

And most of all they have a good coach in Junel Baculi.

Barako Bull reminded me a lot of old Red Bull Thunder/Barakos of Yeng Guiao, Pennisi, Davonn Harp and Miller.

The argument is this: Japeth is mentally weak especially against TOUGHER opponents.

                    Counter?
If there is no basketball in heaven, i am NOT going.

                      I do not think so.

The triangle is too structured and Centers are just role players in said system. Don't you remember Don Allado demanding to be traded because the triangle curtailed him from becoming the star of the team.

Si Yeng Guiao NICE ..... hahaha! He'll always call Japeth to have no balls in kapangpangan and he'll call Japeth's name with a swear word attached ....
his favorite is "pakshet Japeth Me kene! Nanu ya ing gagawan mu? Bolang!"
What a way to motivate your player.

I'd still go with either Coach Jong or Norman Black - Hahah (neither is a coach in the PBA) Why?

Coach Jong - Abuda, Ildefonso, Belasco, Seigle et..

Coach Black - Rabeh, Arao, Espino, Aquino etc..

They have proven that whether the bigs are already have polished games they can still improve themselves.

It works for some and most mentally tough players. You're right, maybe not for Japeth who has shown he can easily be demoralized...

                          • Japeth @ TNT is too much i think.... i trade na lang nila sana.
They won championship without japeth... now agawan na ata sa playing time pa.

                            TNT is already complete package.

Time-and-time again Japeth knows what he needs to do in order to get minutes.

..... get the rebounds and play tough defense.

He could not even do some boxing out in order to help his team mates get the rebounds.

explain why still he could not do it.

Its just a few games but it looks Chot Reyes is now running out of patience and is no longer willing to gamble on more playing for Japeth.

                              • In Coach tim system, japeth's perimeter game will be use.
In Coach Yeng system, see PHL 2009 team.

In coach jong system, They have good assistant coaches to help japeth's game.
