Shimane Susanoo Magic fell to the Kyoto Hannaryz in the first round. Game 1 was a disappointment for the fans. Game 2 and the decisive sudden death game 3 though makes no sense, had Hannaryz advance into the western conference semi-finals.

In all, quite contented with Shimane this season.

It is Conference Semi-Finals time for the BJ-League Playoffs:

    East:

Yokohama B-Corsairs vs. Akita Northern Happinets

Niigata Albirex vs. Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix

    West:

    Osaka Evessa vs. Kyoto Hannaryz

Okinawa-Rykyu Golden Kings vs. Shiga Lakestars

Despite my lousy history of picking winners from the brackets, I envision Hamamatsu Phoenix to be dethroned by Akita while Okinawa-Ryukyu will emerge from the west.

A good read on Yokohama's MVP, Justin Burrel, who dreams of playing in the NBA someday. He could be taking the path traveled by Jeremy Tyler, the former Tokyo Apache standout who was drafted by the Golden State Warriors and so far contributed to the franchise.

Yokohama B-Corsairs' swashbuckling venture of a season continues as they upset the favored Akita Northern Happinets 86-74. The frontcourt of Chas McFarland and Justin Burrell bulldozed their way into victory.

    Yokohama out-rebounded Akita, 57-37.

    Final Four is set:

Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix vs. Yokohama B-Corsairs

Okinawa-Rykyu Golden Kings vs. Kyoto Hannaryz

I will be rooting for underdogs Yokohama and Kyoto as I do not fancy a 2011 BJ-League finals replay.

For the BJ-League 2012 Finals, it is a rematch of the 2011 BJ-League finals between Hamamatsu Phoenix Higashimikawa versus Okinawa-Ryukyu Golden Kings. Hamamatsu is trying to win three straight championships while Okinawa is hoping for redemption.
