I think there would not be Foreign Imports but most probably Filipinos playing as imports as a probability. Nick Hailey is trying to earn a playing slot in Coach A's team as he finds the 2 year D-League residency rule for Fil-Foreigners of the PBA just too much so he rather play in the ABL.LABAN KUNG LABAN! Kuala Lumpur Dragons join Liga Pilipinas
By Rommel C. Manlosa
Sunday, March 13, 2011
THE Westports Kuala Lumpur Dragons of the Asean Basketball League (ABL) is set to see action when the Liga Pilipinas 2011 Season opens its doors on April 27 in Gen. Santos City.
The KL Dragons, which finished fourth in two ABL seasons, will join returnees Ilocos Sur Bravehearts and Zamboanga del Norte in the eight-team tournament. Liga Pilipinas will also return to its original TV network, NBN-4.
During the board meeting held last week at the Liga Pilipinas headquarters in Pasig City, league commissioner and president Noli Eala announced the development for the upcoming conference.
“Everything is set up for the Conference 4 opening on April 27. The Kuala Lumpur Dragons will be joining the tournament along with the returning Ilocos Sur Bravehearts and Zamboanga del Norte team. There will be three pre-season tournaments prior to the opening of the conference,” said Cebu Niños head coach Raul Alcoseba.
Last season, the KL Dragons paraded three Filipino imports – veteran Liga Pilipinas campaigners Angelus Raymundo and Patrick Cabahug and Rudy Linganay of the PBL.
Two of their assistant coaches were also Filipinos--Paul Daniel Advincula and Ariel
Vanguardia.
On the other hand, Ilocos Sur disbanded in 2009 after forfeiting its semifinal games against the Cebu Niños, while the last time a Zamboanga province team played in Liga Pilipinas was also in 2009.
Other teams set to play are the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños and bitter rivals the Misamis Oriental Meteors, the MP-Gen. San Warriors, the Mandaue City-Cebu Landmasters and newcomer Davao City team.
The three pre-season tournaments are scheduled to be held in Davao City, Cebu City and Laguna.
The Cebu pre-season tournament will be on March 23 to 26 at the Cebu Coliseum with the Laguna Stallions, Kuala Lumpur Dragons and MisOr Meteors facing the Cebu Niños.
