So Duke is not playing the China NT? Or are they the "US team" coming in June, not August?

A 30+ member preliminary roster has been announced, and players are already training in Beijing although the CBA is still ongoing. Win this summer or bust!

            The roster:

Singapore media are reporting there will be 3 games of the China-Australia series, held in Perth (June ?), Singapore (June 26) and Beijing (June 29) respectively. The series even has a name "Deng Xiaoping Challenge" (don't know why) and will continue for the next 5 years per agreement.

I imagine the NT also plays Perth Wildcats or some other teams while they are in Perth.

He's already in China and met with Bob Donewald a few days ago, but he won't officially join the team until July. I think he'll be back in the States after watching the CBA Finals courtside, get some training, and figure out some possible destinations next year (of course with a lockout looming it's impossible to know for certain). I think his NBA days are numbered, but it won't be surprising if he lasts a few more years, either.

                    Yao Ming

I read from Reuters this interesting sentence.

Despite the fact the 30-year-old only took off his protective boot a month ago, China placed their prized asset on their roster for summer training this month.
Is Yao training alongside the National Team? How credible is the report?

                    Thanks in advance.

All I can say is Reuters run out of things to write. Yao Ming has not played in any Asian competition (07, 09 FIBA-Asia, 06, 10 Asian Games) since 2005. That's 6 years. Why would this year be any different?

PS: to follow roster changes, follow the coach's microblog:

Chinese bench blasted a traveling American team 85-63 (Zhang Bo 15, Zhang Zhaoxu 13, Wang Lei 11). The American team had D-league names like Roderick Wilmont and James Taylor but really is just minor league level team and believed to be from the IBL (Elkhart Express). Anyway, Chinese NT will have to play a couple more games against this crappy competition before the East Asian Championships. Who knows they might even lose to them like last year.

Do you know where this game was played at? Which city?

Tongchuan, Shaanxi Province. Next 2 games are in Jiyuan (June 5) and Yongcheng (June 7), both in Henan Province. Why do you ask?

Thanks for the info. As a hobby, I do record keeping on national teams, so I need the most accurate information possible which includes cities and dates. I'm up to about 40 international teams that I keep records on. Not so much on detailed stats, but win/loss records, "friendlies" played, cities that the games are played in...that sort of thing. I'm thinking about publishing my info online one of these days but there's still a lot of information missing that I'm trying to retrieve. Finding data on most NTs is difficult and time consuming. Larger programs like the US, Spain or Italy make their records accessible, but smaller organizations, particularly in Africa, Asia and parts of Latin America, often don't have NT websites, or if they do the information is typically limited or not up to date. It's a real challenge finding stuff but it's a very rewarding pursuit!
