I'm assuming that the 1981 team for the SEAG was the same team that represented us in the 1981 ABC although I may be wrong.

The 1983 SEAG team in Singapore was different though from the 1983 team we sent to the ABC. I don't have this list. Neither do I have the list for the 1985 SEAG, the 1987 SEAG and the ill-fated 1989 SEAG (headed by Jun Reyes and Jun Limpot) that lost the gold medal for the first time against Malaysia.
The Philippine NT to the 1974 FIBA Worlds in Puerto Rico was basically the same team that won the Manila ABC in 1973. I do not know if any changes were made.

          I remember this team.
They played a game versus AFPSLAI in our town, Santiago, Isabela.
Limpot did not show up though.
Boybits wowed the crowd with his dunks.
While Marlou, EJ and Wilmer simply got the attention of the Isabelinos purely because of their height.
I'm back. Don't ask why. Just be glad.

Santiago Cabatu played with the Pasig-Rizal Pirates in the 1999 ABC Champions Cup in Lebanon.

As earlier established in the parameters, the said tournament is not part of this thread.

i was not referring to that. i was referring to the 1999 abc men's championship. that's why i said "i thought" and i put a "?". it was a question. im just relying on memory of my previous readings. i just remembered henson's bashing of an mba selection's poor performance in an abc tournament. so maybe its the champions cup not the mens championship.

                          Please Check this out:

Just realized that when our basketball teams made good a performance in the Olympics we had young line-ups.

In 1956 when Team USA beat Team Pilipinas 121-53. 6'9 22 year old Bill Russell scored 12 points and outplayed 6'3 26 year old Caloy Loyzaga who only had 3 points. It was 5'10 31 year old Ramon Campos which top scored for the Philippines with 14 points while it was USA's 6'3 24 year old Bob Jeangerard who paced his team with 21 points, please note 6'1 24 year old K.C. Jones scored only 6 points against the Filipinos. Out of 12 participants, the Philippines placed 7th with the Americans winning the Gold Medal. Its unfortunate in our Quarterfinal Group of 4 we lost 2 both eventful semifinalists France and Uraguay (Bronze) in overtime at 58-65 and 70-79 respectively after rallying in both games from a halftime deficit. Had we won both games or at least one of them, we could have ended-up playing in the semis vs the US or the Soviet Union and could have ultimately played in the Bronze medal game. That's how competitive we were that time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketb...ummer_Olympics

Wasn't Tembong's son, Richie, also part of this ragtag 1993 lineup that played in the Singapore SEA Games?

                                Anthony,

Much props to you for providing these additional information. Very informative and incisive. Note that in 1975, when the PBA was formed and it was the first time that we didn't send our best players for the ABC, the players that reinforced our team were made up of MICAA players. Most notably that they were mostly players from either Manilabank or YCO. Although YCO had a Tanduay team in the PBA, they still had a formidable lineup in the amateur ranks. Manilabank, which was owned by the Puyat family, obviously didn't join the PBA as Lito Puyat was at odds with the PBA.

The YCO players were Greg Gozum, Ely Capacio, Bert Dela Rosa and Jimmy Taguines. The Manilabank players were Gil Cortez, Jojo De Guzman, Rudy Hines and Arnie Tuadles. Another player from the San Miguel Braves was Paul Velasco while Nic Bulaong, I believe, was from Frigidaire / MAN Diesel. I forgot what team future Crispa players Tito Varela and Jimmy Javier came from. They may have come from ITM.

Even their coach, Nes Mayoralgo, was associated with the Puyats, being the head coach of the Bankers at the MICAA. He eventually became part of the BAP when Lito Puyat was still prexy.
