Unfortunately as we've seen with Yao and other players who are extraordinarily tall, that extra height tends to put a strain on the legs, feet or back.
that absolutely right... actually there have only been a handful of players ...rik smits, sabonis, mark eaton, who ever had long careers playing at that height...its not possible to run up and down the floor with that kind of weight and body structure without breaking down.

he cant defend out on the floor, or help on a quick guard, to save his life. ever heard of george mureshan??

Talk about huge progress in two years. From the ESPN article:

Or maybe our story ends in October 2011, when the kid has his first breakout performance at the FIBA Asia U16 Championship. There, after being overmatched by the excellent Chinese team in the first game, he slams down almost a point a minute in his next seven, including 41 against a very good Korean team, and leads the tournament in scoring. He hauls down nearly 10 rebounds a game and, according to Justice, is one of the two best post players there.

That really is amazing. In the 2009 U16's he averaged less than 2ppg and then two years later in the 2011 tourney he lead the whole thing in scoring including a 40 point game. Whatever they're teaching him at IMG, it really is working.

what does he average at img if he just played a full season there in usa hs basketball? what was his img teams record? have you seen how he runs up and down the floor? looks like he'll have a short career running like that at that size. even if he did have a nice statistical game against korea and iraq, what were their center's height? werent they some 14 or 15 year old 6 foot 2 inch kids?

when he played a 7 footer his size from china in this tournament he had 5 pts in 35 mins of play

The dude was the leading scorer in the entire tourney, including 40 points against Korea and your trashing him because he had a subpar game against the player who may call the next Yao Ming? Gimme a break. Singh has been playing ball for less than 5 years. Don't be a such a hater. If you wanna know the height of the other centers, look it up. Your post is unbelievable.

yes the other teams didnt feature tall centers compared to satnam. still i think he can be valuable to India given his height and training he's getting at img if he keeps his focus, others have not been so fortunate here to get such facilities. im not too optimistic about his nba dreams though.

you're right in saying that his records at img can give a better idea about how he's progressing and how he fares amongst players of his own height.

about the china game their 7 footer played 15 min IIRC plus china were too good for India in all departments and had a big avg height advantage

Satnam Singh is a teammate of another Asian giant: Meng Xiang Yu of China.

How'd you find this picture? It's impossible to find stats about IMG's high school team. I wanted to see hoe Singh's been playing against American kids, but I can't find any game recaps or boxscores anywhere, they're so secretive.

its not hating its called player evaluation

satnam singh played on the junior team at img this year and his team finished with a 5-22 record with 1 tie (?)
