    • Day 12.

Lleida and Canarias continue leading the league and they are the principal candidates to play the Prince of Asturias Cup.

Lleida crushed Burgos by 90-76, in a game where home team leaded by 28 points sometimes. Only a relaxing in the third quarter (0-17 indeed) allowed Burgos to dream, but it was not sufficent to beat a team on fire. Former ACB Paco Vázquez (22 points) was the top scorer of a game watch by 4,600 people. After some doubtful weeks, Chus Castro (21 points) was the best man of Casadevall boys.

Jason Detrick with the ball, looked by Jerome Tillman.

The other leader is Canarias who beat Melilla by 21 points (91-70). Only 17 minutes of a tied game, but a final run of 15-0 finished with the visitors' options. The bad news for Canarias was the injury of SF Levi Rost, who will lose the next three months of competition due to a broke finger. He and Nicolás Richotti were the top scorers f the yellow-black team, with 15. Dinma Odiakosa (19+7), the best man of Melilla.

Ricardo Guillén nails a basket in the zone.

A crucial game was the one played in the Marta Fernández Arena of Palencia. Home team beat CB Granada by 86-80 in a very exciting game. Both teams had chances to win from the first minute to the last one, but finally a doubtful technical on Curro Segura, Granada's coach, allowed Palencia to take a deserved win and to the dream for playing the playoffs, but this time the promotion ones. Michel Diouf (15+8) and Chris Moss (13) were the best men of the purple team. Roberto Guerra (22) and Edu Ruiz (17), top scorers for the visitors. A team who goes down and down and down... Today appeared an article telling CB Granada will probably disappear at the end of the season. At least, they hope finishing this one...

Jesús Fernández (red) and Michel Diouf jump for the tip off.

Previously, on thursday, Grupo Iruña Navarra beat Girona FC after an overtime by 90-82. The team of Pamplona forced the extra time with a buzzerbeater from behind the arc of Mikel Uriz. Later, in the overtime, they had no problems to beat Zan Tabak's team. Kevin Langford was the best man of the game with 27+6 (MVP of the week), for Girona Thomas Coleman (17) was the top scorer.

      Other games:

La Palma 69-72 Menorca (Sikma 14; Blanch 15, Morentin 12+6)

Tarragona 79-82 Cáceres (Iván Martínez 16; Antelo 18+12)

          Hola amigo

Hey I'm in spain right now, living in Villa verde, and I have been working out with a señor masculino team since janauary, but the competition is very low, and the team does not really care about winning as much as everyone getting to play so i have not agreed to join the spanish basket ball federation yet in fear of loosing my remaining college eligibility.

              • GAME 1:

                MENORCA 79–55 MELILLA

The whites swept the blues in the first game of the promotion playoffs finals. Nice first quarter of the crew of Berrocal (26–15), but Melilla came back and went to the halftime only trailing by 3 (41–38).

In the third quarter, the great defense and good offensive decisions, allowed Menorca to break the game (26–5 this quarter). The last period was for the lol, and 3,500 people (not full) celebrated the first win.

MENORCA (26+15+26+12): Jiménez (11), Navarro (13), Bas (10), Otegui (6) and Arteaga (12). Also played Blanch (10), Coppenrath (8), Pérez (3), Bravo (0), Matalí (2) and Pardina (0). Coach: Josep Maria Berrocal.

MELILLA (15+23+5+12): Riera (4), Arco (9), Suka-Umu (9), Manzano (8) and Wachsmann (6). Also played Odiakosa (13), Marco (0), Frutos (1), Romero (1) and Almazán (4). Coach: Gonzalo García de Vitoria.

Taylor Coppenrath (white) looks for the rebound covered by Salva Arco (left) and Chuckwudinma Odiakosa.

                • GAME 2:

                  MENORCA 82–77 MELILLA

The homers also win the second game in the LEB Gold finals and only needs one more win to promote to ACB with Canarias. This game was tougher than the first one. Teams tied every time, and Melilla leading the game since the second quarter, after a technical to Jorge Jiménez.

Salva Arco was on fire and he led the north-African team. Also, the fantastic performance at FT allowed them to play easier (finally 22/25). After Melilla leading by 6 during the third quarter, Jorge Jiménez started to conduct his guys to the win. Arteaga and Coppenrath dominated in the low post and with two minutes left, a threepointer of Romà Bas decided the game.

In the last minute, an unsportmanlike of Salva Arco (it wasn't imo) killed the options of Melilla.

MENORCA (23+17+19+23): Jiménez (16), Navarro (7), Bas (7), Otegui (6) and Arteaga (12). Also played Blanch (4), Coppenrath (13), Pérez (9), Bravo (5), Morentin (0) and Matalí (3). Coach: Josep Maria Berrocal.

MELILLA (17+21+26+13): Riera (17), Arco (22), Suka-Umu (11), Manzano (2) and Wachsmann (8). Also played Odiakosa (11), Marco (3), Romero (0) and Almazán (3). Coach: Gonzalo García de Vitoria.

David Navarro looks for a pass. Marcos Suka-Umu watching.

                  • GAME 3:

                    SALVA ARCO 79–74 MENORCA

Melilla forces the fouth game after a big win at Pabellón Javier Imbroda. The first quarter, with 26–12 and the three point shooting efficience was decissive for the game. Specially Salva Arco, who nailed 8/9 threepointers and finished the game with 36 points (39 of PIR). Menorca defended well and made a great comeback in the second half, after trailing by 19. Led by Jorge Jiménez and Marc Blanch, tried to play fast for finished the series, but that wasn't possible. Arco's inspiration and a 2+1 of Héctor Manzano finished the story. On friday, the fourth game.

MELILLA (26+17+13+23): Riera (11), Arco (36), Suka-Umu (8), Manzano (11) and Wachsmann (6). Also played Odiakosa (7), Marco (0), Romero (0) and Almazán (0). Coach: Gonzalo García de Vitoria.

MELILLA (12+12+19+31): Jiménez (13), Navarro (7), Bravo (3), Arteaga (3) and Morentin (5). Also played Bas (0), Blanch (22), Coppenrath (12), Pérez (0), Otegui (5) and Matalí (4). Coach: Josep Maria Berrocal.

Finally, Menorca comes back to ACB one year after its relegation. Menorca needed about 15 minutes to make the first high differences. In the second half, Menorca leaded by 26 and finally, an easy game allows them the ticket for the 2012–13 ACB season. Congratulations!

MELILLA (17+12+16+18): Riera (5), Arco (12), Suka-Umu (18), Manzano (5) and Wachsmann (10). Also played Odiakosa (2), Marco (2), Romero (9) and Almazán (0). Coach: Gonzalo García de Vitoria.
