    • Iberostar Canarias continues winning and destroying. This time, 103-76 against Baloncesto León in a wonderful first half (56-34). Yellow-black time averages more than 95 points per game and the duo Guillén-Donaldson is unstoppable. Probably Ricardo Guillén will be one more time MVP of the week (30 points for 42 of ranking). 33 asists on 44 baskets... Is that true?

More than 2,000 people viewed the game of the leader of the league.

Now on second position is Lleida Basquetbol, who trashed Girona FC in a new catalan derby in this league by 89-70. Austrian SF Jason Detrick and PF Charles Ramsdell made a fantastic game against a Girona who didn't play good. Tabak is starting to be questioned at Girona as head coach.

Darryl Middleton tries to block the dunk of Charles Ramsdell

Relegated to the third position, but only due to the average is Ford Burgos. Castilian team suffered a lot to win Melilla Baloncesto by 93-91 in an epic game. Burgos was trailing by 12 in the second quarter, and in the third started the comeback. Being 5 points down with 12 minutes left, home team coach Casadevall was disqualified by two technical fouls but Burgos continued working an finally won in the last seconds. Jerome Tillman was one more week the best man of the home team. Melilla worked very well from the line of 3 points (especially Salva Arco) but that wasn't enough.

Andreu Casadevall goes to the locker room after being disqualified.

The other team who was leading the league was La Palma, but the team who collaborates with Gran Canaria failed at home in the overtime against Cáceres. La Palma tied the game with two seconds left after an stupid turnover of Pedro Robles, but couldn't won. Finally, Cáceres breathes after winning 78-85 thanks to the great work of José Ángel Antelo.

        • Day 9! The day of overtimes and buzzerbeaters!

The four top teams lost their games this week and compress the table.

          Granada 90-89 Canarias

Incredibly, the leader lost in the overtime. More incredible was they were leading the extra time by 6 points, but didn't know how to break the game. Firstly, Mamadou Samb nailed the basket to force the overtime. Later, was Manu Coego with a basket with 7 seconds left who gave the lead to Granada. Ricardo Guillén failed a 3pointer at the buzzer, in a game where Jakim Donaldson performed a ranking of 46!

Ángel Hernández flies to nail a layup.

          Cáceres 88-86 Lleida

The black team nailed its second consecutive win after beating Lleida, who lost again far of their city. Marcus Norris nailed a possible winner with two seconds left, but a basket of Asier Zengotitabengoa gave five more free minutes to the fans. In this one, the free throws gave Cáceres the leading; and finally Marcus Norris failed at the buzzer. The best men of the game were Leon Williams (CAC, 27+12 for 40) and José Ángel Antelo (CAC, 27 points). Jason Detrick, 28 points for Lleida.

          Impressive movement of Leon Williams

          Burgos 64-65 Menorca

The 3,000 fans who filled El Plantío were very happy when Darren Phillip made the basket for leading the game... But David Navarro (former Valencia player) at the buzzer silenced the pavillion!

          León 80-79 La Palma

Nobody expected a tied game when León was leading by 26 points. La Palma made a comeback and had options to win the game. Manny Quezada made two free throws to win and Óscar Alvarado missed the possible winner.

Top scorer Jonathan Durley (today 23 pts) dunks.

          Knet&Éniac Clavijo 98-101 Lobe Huesca

Two overtimes at Logroño for giving the third victory of the season to Leonavicius' team. Firstly, a doubtful basket of David Mesa (Clavijo) forced the first overtime in a game where visitors were always leading. In this first one, a free throw of McNeal forced the second and finally, Óscar Herrero (9 points in the second overtime) leaded Huesca to a new victory.

Miguel Montañana (26) was the best man of the visitors but was injured in the first overtime. Leonavicius (24) and Herrero (19) made a good game. 35 points of Matt Witt and (16+17) of Shane Lawal weren't enough for Clavijo.

David Mesa and Shane Lawal try to grab the rebound. McNeil and Orfila (greens) fight to do it.

          Other games:

          Melilla 99-94 Breogán (DeVries 28; Brooks 21)
Clínicas 67-68 Navarra (Kuzmin 17; Starosta 16): Navarra only leaded the game in the last minute.
          Mallorca 81-67 Tarragona (Amador 20; Mitchell 17)
Girona 101-95 Palencia (Ordín 27; Xavier 23): Middleton made 16 points.

                    Only two per team.

                    - Minimum of six Spanish players (or 'training players' who played three years between 15 y.o. and 18 in Spain)
                    - Maximum of two American players (or non-EU, non-Cotonou countries, etc)

Is this Parejo the one who played in Real Madrid?
I played with him when he was just a child, in Almería, and he was awesome. Although he trained with us, that were older, bigger and stronger, and then played in his own category where he ruled.
Nice to know about him again.

                              • After the 11th day, Canarias and Lleida, Lleida and Canarias continue leading the LEB Gold and, at the moment, are the two teams who would play the Prince of Asturias' Cup (it's played by the two first qualified teams after the day 17).

Lleida won last friday at Granada by 57-71 with an outrageous exhibition of defensive concepts in a game were the team of Ricard Casas knocked out the Andalusians in the last quarter. The trio Marcus Norris-Jason Detrick-Charles Ramsdell scored 52 of the 71 points of the team.

Jonathan Kale (blue) and Mamadou Samb go down for the ball. José Simeón and Ángel Hernández, further, watch them.

Later, on Saturday, Canarias resolved a very difficult game at Menorca by 62-72. The yellow-blacks didn't score as usual (still 92 points per game) but in the third quarter, they broke the game in the third quarter, with a 15-29 (a parcial of that who people like). Óliver Arteaga for Menorca and Nicolás Richotti for the team of La Laguna (former Real Madrid B player) were the MVPs of the game.

César Bravo tries a layup watched by the two MVPs Jakim Donaldson and Ricardo Guillén.

In the third position now there's no tie after Burgos defeated UB La Palma (the team, by sponsorship reasons, is called "The Beaufitul Island") by 97-85. With no defense in front of them, in the first half UB La Palma knew how to take advantage of all mistakes of Burgos and with a direct and easy basketball (directed by Óscar Alvarado; 9 assists) led the game at the half time by 43-55. But they were mentally weak when in the third quarter Burgos started to play and to make the comeback. They swept them in twenty fantastic minutes leaded by Darren Philip (MVP of the week) and Juan Alberto Aguilar (12 assists!).

Mateo Kedzo, defended by Antonio Peña.

Other interesting game was a new derby in Castile and León. Baloncesto León and Palencia Baloncesto (the unexpected team in the top table) played a very interesting game. With less than one minute left, Juanjo Bernabé nailed a threepointer for León (86-84) answered by one of Kyle Swanston (86-87). But finally, Manny Quezada made a basket with only one second left for the final 88-87. Adrian Moss missed a final desperate shot.

Manny Quezada nails a basket. Let's say the last one to make the photo more interesting.
