Dammit Al Jefferson!!! Man, we had caught up after being down double digits, then went up by one (after clutch shots from the Bayuu Bomber ) most of the game only to let Devin Harris air the possible game-tying shot and Al Jefferson tips it in with 00.9 second left. Demarcus and Marcus had terrible first halves but were great in the second. Tyreke was a beast all night as well as Thomas. At least we have been playing great ball recently, that's an upside and confidence booster.

It is reported that the Sacramento Kings General Manager Geoff Petrie will sign a contract extension.

Sacramento Kings Apparently Extend Geoff Petrie’s Contract

Vescey is currently the only outlet reporting the contract extension (he’s been known to whiff) and it was muffled in a big piece, so we’re still awaiting more of an official word but the news isn’t being met with the most fan friendly reaction among the Kingdom.
Personally, this (along with the Keith Smart option) reek of the Maloofs uncontrolled excitement and sometimes over exuberance. During last season, spotting a Maloof at a game or near the practice facility was like searching for a leprechaun in an Irish forest. Now, with the team slightly improved and the new sports complex looking like a go, the Maloofs have thrown their passion behind the franchise again – going as far as to sit-in on film sessions with the team, so it appears they’re doing what they can to keep this new found “family” together.
As it pertains to Petrie, I certainly don’t put all of the blame on him. The Maloofs wanted a competitive product in the mid 2000′s, doing their best to re-tool rather than re-build which didn’t work, at all. In addition to that, the past few years he’s been working with the bare minimum financially which is going to make any GM look shameful, but there’s no doubt he’s had his own blunders that can’t be overlooked.
It’s an odd time for an extension. I’ve always personally felt that Petrie is a far better scout than GM, but I’m sure the Maloofs also feel that replacing Petrie wouldn’t be easy nor would they find anything “better”. Still, you have to wonder why now? Questionable time for a reward.

The Sacramento Kings will visit their pacific division rivals, the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle arena. The improved Kings are hoping to get back at the Warriors for their 115-89 humiliation of the Kings at the Power Balance Arena two weeks ago.

Former Sacramento Kings forward JJ Hickson bears no ill will against the Sacramento Kings after his departure.

Former King J.J. Hickson On Sacramento – “Just Wasn’t A Good Situation”

But I do feel that we just wasted our 2012 draft during the Casspi-Hickson trade. Now we owe the Cleveland Cavaliers a protected first round draft pick for the foreseeable future.

A good read from Sports Illustrated about Jimmer Fredette and his journey so far.

Kings take long view with Fredette

It has been an up and down for Fredette so far. Fans of Jimmermania expected too much that by this point, he will be the starting point guard. The emergence of Isaiah Thomas Jr. is welcome but it does not derail Fredette's future with the team. At this point, Fredette is still adjusting and he has demonstrated the work ethic and abilities to succeed. No doubt, Fredette will be a good piece for this upcoming team.

A good read about Tyreke Evans. After a sprained ankle that sidelined him for two games, Evans on his return during the dugout, insisted that Salmons starts ahead of him as the small forward. Evans cited Keith Smart's policy of injured starters not automatically given their spot after an injury. So far, Evans is not complaining about his minutes and is willing to come off the bench.

Tyreke Evans Keeping Himself Out of the Starting Lineup

At the start of the year, Evans started as the point guard. Smart moved him to the small forward spot in January to accommodate Isaiah Thomas Jr as a starter and more minutes for Jimmer Fredette. After games where it is evident that Evans was still grappling with his new role as a small forward, Evans improved quickly on the position and has been steady in improving his defense in the perimeter.

Evans is adjusting well at the reserve forward spot, but it won't be long before Evans is back in the starting lineup in place of John Salmons. Maybe by the next game against the Golden State Warriors.

Up next for the Sacramento Kings will be the Houston Rockets that has familiar faces like Samuel Dalembert and Kevin Martin. Houston will also a familiar face in the Kings' Terrence Williams and Chuck Hayes.

Kings need a win while power forward Jason Thompson is listed as day to day with an ankle sprain.

Head coach Keith Smart said that power forward Jason Thompson will be available in the game against the Houston Rockets in Monday night. Smart said that Thompson will not start and instead will put Chuck Hayes as the starting power forward.

Terrence Williams debuted in crunch time for the past games and seems to be blending well off and on the court. Williams could be signed for the rest of the season I hope.

Kings notes: Williams already is making an impact

HOUSTON – Terrence Williams said facing his old team provided no extra motivation.

But his performance against the Houston Rockets probably will earn him more playing time with the Kings.

Williams, a 6-foot-6 small forward, came off the bench in the third quarter and played 16 minutes in Sacramento's 113-106 overtime loss Monday night.

The Rockets waived the seldom-used Williams on March 16, and the Kings signed him to a 10-day contract Wednesday. In both of his appearances with Sacramento, he has been on the court at crunch time.

"I don't care where we were playing (Monday)," Williams said. "I wasn't going to let the last game happen again. I just tried to be focused and be ready to play basketball."

Williams committed a turnover with 15.6 seconds left in the Kings' 111-108 loss at Golden State on Saturday. On Monday, he had 10 points, three rebounds and two steals.

Coach Keith Smart said Williams is "moving up the charts" and earning the right to play earlier in games.

"He's playing well. He's playing within himself," Smart said. "He's shown he can make some plays and be a playmaker defensively, so he's moving at the right pace for our basketball team."

Williams likely will stay for the rest of the season.

"There's some things he can do that no one on our team can do," Smart said. "So we've just got to keep getting him familiar with what we do all the way around."

Williams said regardless of when Smart uses him, he'll be ready.

"At the end of the day, I'm a basketball player," Williams said. "I'm not studying for an exam. Whatever he needs me to do. If he wants to play me in the fourth quarter, that's showing he has a lot of trust in me."

Still out – Forward Jason Thompson missed his second consecutive game because of a sprained left ankle suffered in the final seconds of the Kings' loss to Utah on Thursday.

Thompson practiced Sunday when the Kings arrived in Houston. He also went through a pregame workout but was held out.

In his last five games, Thompson has averaged 17.6 points and 13.6 rebounds. Donté Greene started in his place for the second game in a row.

Up next for the Sacramento Kings is the San Antonio Spurs. On their last meeting, the Kings beat the Spurs. But now the Spurs added more firepower around Duncan, Ginobili and Parker with the additions of Stephen Jackson, Patrick Mills and Boris Diaw.

The Sacramento Kings engaged the San Antonio Spurs in a shootout at the Power Balance Pavilion, but just couldn't jump the gun in the last minutes as the Spurs kept firing away and the Kings did fizzle. Result is a 117-112 win by the Spurs.

In the losing effort, Isaiah Thomas Jr. scored a career high 28 points and dished out 10 assists. Demarcus Cousins with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Marcus Thornton scored 18 points.

The Maloofs have some concerns about the proposed construction of the new arena. Initially, the Maloofs are not willing to pay more than $3 Million for the pre-development costs.

A family spokesman said that if the concerns were not met, the Maloofs may explore relocating the franchise once more.

Tyreke Evans was questionable for this game due to back spasms. But Evans is on the bench with Donte Greene starting and expected to share the role with Travis Outlaw, Terrence Williams and Tyler Honeycutt (If Honeycutt gets minutes).
