Al Mendoza WAS a good opinion writer back in the day, i think during my highschool/college years but i don't know what happened to him regarding his stint with that broadsheet (i think he writes for Abante now? Or another tabloid?)
The inboundpass.com have their own strengths (and biases), Chris Soler is more of the features guy, Sid Ventura more on the technical aspect of the game and the La Salle guy whose name escapes me has lots of strong opinions to offer. i enjoy that site and is my primary source for college hoops...
Strictly basketball, the Basketbolista magazine was of interest some months back. Too bad i can't find (printed) copies regularly or if they have net versions of such...
i remember a time when i would tell my father that he should buy Philstar over Inquirer back in the days because they have a more comprehensive and broad take both on international and local sports.
i hate our beatwriters for the PBA though. They all sound alike (not that they are not good) but there's no real identity in each... Though one name--- i think it's Tito Talao--- is the one that always catches my attention.
