  • The Class of 2014

ESPN recently released their Class of 2014 prospects. Surprise, surprise, Canada's Andrew Wiggins is the top prospect. Team USA's Theo Pinson is currently second.

Third are bigman Jahlil Okafor and fourth is Dakari Johnson. The future class of bigman for Team USA is stacked.

Jahlil and Emeka Okafor are not brothers, they are distant cousins.

ESPN's Recap of the Adidas Nations.

          Theo Pinson
Just a sophomore, Pinson shows a great deal of upside with his prototype length and freakish leaping ability. Right now he's still a long ways away from realizing his talent. His decision making and fundamentals are a work in progress. Along with Walker, probably the most athletic kid in the camp. Shows good ball handling skills, but needs to work on adding strength to his body, shot selection and improving the form on his release.

Jahlil Okafor and Theo Pinson played very well internationally, resulting the best 2014 USA team members at the recent U16 Fiba Americas.

            Their stats:

            Okafor: 14.6ppg (3rd best), 9.2rpg (2nd), 71%FG

            Pinson: 11.5ppg (4th), 6.3rpg (4th), 1.7spg, 58%FG (41%FG3)

I am impressed with Tyus Jones. A point guard that is mature beyond his years. Very good basketball IQ as well as plays like a pure bred point guard that sets plays and makes his less talented teammates better. A very good feel for the game where for his size, gets rebounds and can slash at will.

Still, Jones needs to improve his jumpshot and overall range. Defense also needs improvement.

Jones also Overall, very solid point guard and has been attracting national attention.

What about 6-10 Dakari Johnson ?
He was named to several accolades after his freshman season, but he didn't make the final U16 USAB team.

Very impressed with class of 2014 player Aaron Gordon. Plays with passion and has good skill level for a big man. Athletically, he's on another level, playing well above the rim.

6'7 Aaron Gordon is a 15 year-old sophomore at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, CA... He is regarded as one of the top 10 players in the country in ...

Come to think of it, yes you are right. Maybe when Dakari Johnson improves he will be re-considered. On improving, Johnson will improve.

Isn't Gordon from the Class of 2013? ESPN states here that Gordon is in the 2013.

Anyways, I like him too. Gordon's athleticism and passing abilities are his key skills. I look for him to improve his defense and the timing on blocking shots. Then add some more post moves.

I like Theo Pinson's drive and motor. He will still get better with his hard work. The athleticism and the mid range game is well developed at his stage. Long range shooting can still be polished.

On defense, he is eager to improve and the upside is his lateral movement. The side slides and back pedaling is there due to his athleticism. Based from what I have seen on videos, he can be more explosive given more attention to that specific training.

#3 Jahlil Okafor scored 36 pts at the Beach Ball Classic with an amazing 14 on 16 shooting. He also collected 14 reb.

                              Andrew Wiggins

Nothing says it like a mixtape for a prospect. That said we'll start with the King of Class 2014. Andrew Wiggins dubbed as the Canadian chosen one or The Great Canadian Hope. Much hype.
