Comebacking PBL team to parade exciting Fil-Am

Noosa Shoes hopes to unravel another exciting Fil-foreign player in the class of Asi Taulava when it rejoins the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) this month.
Determined to return in the league with a bang, Noosa Shoes team owner Dioceldo Sy is now looking for a Fil-foreign player, preferably a big one, to beef up their squad for the coming PBL tournament.
"We have already written Commissioner (Chino) Trinidad about our request and we are confident the league will allow us to field one," Sy. "We really need a big but mobile player so that we can be competitive."
Sy said the 6-foot-9 Taulava played for his former team, Blu Detergent, during the 1998 PBL Vis-Min Cup.
Though Taulava played for only one conference in the PBL, his presence and rivalry with Erick Menk, who was then playing for Tanduay, was a big hit among the fans.
"We need someone who can bring the level of excitement in the league a notch higher," said Sy.
"And if we can recruit another player like Asi, then we are pretty sure we can compete against several giants in the league right now."
Aside from Taulava, who is now playing for the Coca Cola in the PBA, other Fil-foreign players who came to play in the league during that time were Talk 'N Text's Jimmy Alapag and former San Miguel player Rob Duat.
Sy and team manager Patrick Aquino are now busy talking to some player-agents in the United States in the hope of getting the best available Fil-foreign player around for the season-ending tournament of the country's premier amateur basketball league.
Sy and Aquino are also hoping that Ateneo will allow its star player Chris Tiu to play for the Shoe Stars as they are in dire need of a leader as tough and charismatic as the 22-year-old guard.
Though he's already acknowledged as one of the country's finest amateur guards, Tiu has openly declared his intention to play in the PBL in order to gain more exposure before the UAAP wars begin.
The team will be again handled by Leo Isaac and will be bannered by former NCAA hotshot Noy Javier, Jemal Vizcarra, Allan Evangelista, RB Mangahas, John Wilson, Jayson Nocum, Gio Ciriacruz and Veejay Serios.
The team, which finished runner to Ateneo-Pioneer in 2002, took a leave of absence in 2004 after some of its marquee players turned pro.
lets hope they got 1..... or atleast 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 so we can build another rp team composed of talented fil-ams and maybe 13, 14,15... (reserved)
