Peter June Simon was a nobody when he applied for the draft because he had no PBL experience yet but only as a discovery of the year in the defunct MBA, which was considered as league lower than PBL standards.

sorry but i beg to disagree with you if you said the MBA is considered a league way below the stateture of PBL. look at the former MBA stars who are now playing in the PBA? they are able to carve names in the league of superstars they said. John Ferriols, Dondon Hontiveros, Jun Simon, Rob Wainright, Reynel Hugnatan, Felix Belano just to name a few.

John Ferriols, Dondon Hontiveros, Jun Simon, Rob Wainright, Reynel Hugnatan, Felix Belano just to name a few.
ex-MBA players who got drafted in 2001 were:
#1 Willie Miller
#4 Gilbert Demape
#6 Francis Adriano
#7 Norman Gonzales
#10 Joey Mente
#11 Oliver Agapito
#14 Jovy Sese
#15 Ricky Calimag
#19 Jomar Tierra
#21 Dave Bautista
#22 Fernan Dino Manuel
#23 Marlon Piodo
#25 June Longalong
#26 Michael Almonte
#27 Allan Salangsang
#28 Michael Garcia
#29 Paul Guerrero
#31 Dominic Uy
#32 Maui Roca
#33 Rolando Basilides
#34 Ryan Bernardo
#36 Jay Magat
#37 Jonathan de Guzman
#43 Peter June Simon
#45 Allen Patrimonio
#47 Jonathan Serrano
#48 Leode Garcia Philippines

from the list, most of those ex-MBA players who got drafted ahead of PJ Simon have already proven their worth for at least 5 seasons in MBA or had PBL experience, while PJ was just starting his pro-career in MBA. Thus, scouts has not seen the best of PJ Simon when he applied for the draft. Also, most are from Manila-based schools while PJ is the only one from Mindanao. There was also no hype on his court exploits down south.
