Hello splitzapper.
With no doubt Riyadi is the strong team in this tournament, aslo El Ahli from Egypt have some good players like Tarek El Ghanam, and Mouttahed from Lebanon is a good team with Brian Bchara and Roy Samaha.

Blue Stars set the tone for the upcoming Lebanese basketball championship by keeping up against Riyadi in both teams’ second appearance in Housameddine Hariri tournament. With the presence of Vogel, Ahmad, and Satterfield, the Lebanese champions struggled against a spirited one foreigner short Blue Stars roster, failing to create the break until the last few minutes and banking a 9-point-win with an unconvincing performance.

Riyadi coach Fouad Abou Chakra started the game with Mazen Mneimne, Ismail Ahmad, Kenny Satterfield, Omar Turk and Hussein Tawbe, with a slight injury keeping Ali Mahmoud away from the starting line-up. Both teams were evenly matched in the first quarter with Riyadi players relying more on individual efforts rather than teamwork, as individual plays and bad shot selection from the yellow side allowed Blue Stars’ motivated Lebanese players and an impressive John Bell to take advantage of Riyadi’s loose defense to end the first quarter 19-19. Vogel and Ali Mahmoud entered the game in the second quarter in an attempt by Abou Chakra to reorganize Riyadi’s defense and managed to create a 5 points cushion by halftime (42-37), thanks mainly to a low shooting percentage from Blue Stars. The second half started off with more of the same, and Blue Stars fast transition defense hampered the yellows fast-paced game play, causing them to commit several turnovers and missing easy fast breaks. Bell and Abdel Nour kept the score within range as the third quarter ended 61-55. Riyadi came back more focused however into the last quarter, with a much more spirited defense on the rebound by Vogel and Tawbe, and better shot selection from Omar Turk and Ali Mahmoud. Blue Stars attempted a final run in the last minutes but Dell’s low free throw average and the lack of an outside game allowed Riyadi to win it 81-72.

Best scorers of the game were John Bell with 26 points and 13 rebounds, followed by Jean Abdel Nour with 22 points. From Riyadi, Ali Mahmoud had 17 points, followed by Ismail Ahmad (16 points and 13 rebounds) and Omar Turk (16 points) while Tawbe had an excellent defensive game with 17 rebounds. With this win, Riyadi qualified to the next round and next game will be against Sala from Morocco on Monday.
