FIBA, Baumann sever ties with BAP
The Philippine Star
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has already distanced itself from the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP).
After receiving a letter from the BAP regarding the current state of Philippine basketball, FIBA secretary-general Patrick Baumann responded by saying that the BAP “is no longer recognized by FIBA.”
The BAP letter, dated May 22, 2007 and signed by Go Teng Kok who has supposedly resigned as its president, called for a “more workable” relationship between the BAP and the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas.
The BAP letter said the current SBP leadership under Manny V. Pangilinan is preoccupied with the formation of the RP team, and at the expense of all the other programs as previously planned.
The BAP said it is planning to convene its National Congress next month. But it could be an exercise in futility.
In his letter dated June 1, 2007, Baumann stressed that, “the Basketball Association of the Philippines is no longer recognized by FIBA.”
He added that the “use of the FIBA logo on the BAP letterhead is not allowed “ and the activities of the BAP can only be of domestic nature and only if approved by the new federation (SBP).”
its great that FIBA finally stamp its authority regarding the new governing body..
fucking idiot want to destabilize the organization and in the process might include OUR NT!!!!!!!!!!! PHAK U GO TENG KOK!!!
