James Yap is one of my favorite player in the PBA and at age 25 yrs.old, He is probably one of the most successful PBA Player of all time.

Just check his awards, stats and accomplishment in the the 1st 3 years of his proffessional career.

James Yap is lethal in the open court and very dangerous with his jumpshots and devil drives towards the hoop... a cross between Samboy Lim and Allan Caidic... a second MVP award for the Escalante, Negros Occidental native could be in the offing but he must practise consistency and learn to take charge for the Giants.

how about defense?
dude my cousin saw him play in the jones cup and he told me that james yap was grimacing and agonizing under the paint during the bumps and grind of mad rebound scramble againts the bigger arabs. hes having a hard time in the squeeze play in international competitions. to be exact his defense and toughness under the board is quite defective. im talking about the international games perspective. here in the philippines of course he will excell because of so so compititions. but bring him outside the country. i dont know if he can get those kind of stats. my cousins in the states dare me if he can even make it to the roster of the elite us div 1 team or any european ballclub.

Bro some of the highly touted Div 1 player from US didn't make it big in the PBA as an import..
I believe he can play or he do have the talent to play there. with his unique style of shooting ( close to Ray Allen where they are releasing the ball on the peak of their jump ) which is hard to block by some players standing same as his height or taller than him. and also his ability to make his own shot when needed. btw, im not a James Yap fanatic :D im just pointing here that James Yap is not the usual Filipino Player that your cousin is thinking.. he can make it big at any given sunday..:)
And for the last Jones Cup, its obvious he was not in condition. maybe (one of the reason why he was cut from the final roster).. after coming from some marital issues with his wife its hard to gauge his true arsenal..

Purefoods TJ Giants- 96
Sta. Lucia Realtors- 89

Final Score

Best Player:

James Yap- 29 pts 5 rebs 3/5 3pt FGs

http://www.visayandailystar.com/2006/July/22/pix/james%20yap.jpg

Great Game for both team in the start of the conference and It is a come from behind victory for the TJ Giants lead by James Yap, who scored 29 points and help the TJ Giants to beat the Sta. Lucia Realtors after PJ Simon was thrown out in the game after committing 2 technical fouls in the 2nd half.

Overall the Purefoods TJ Giants are one of the most underrated team this conference but they added some nice acquisition like Rookie Robert Franz, Ardy Larong and 5'10" PG Chico Lanete.

Nice game also from Roger Yap who added 16 points and facilitate Purefoods offense since the start of the ball game.

Yap is married to ABS-CBN host-actress, & Purefoods image model Kris Aquino, the daughter of slain former senator, Benigno Aquino, Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino. Yap and Aquino's relationship was rumored as early as 2005 before they acknowledged this on various interviews. In various interviews in 2006, both admitted to have tied the knot as early as mid-2005, July 10, to be exact in a civil rites and kept the marriage unknown to the public. The couple is expecting to have a baby on May 6, 2007 via ceasarian section.

His marriage with Aquino was recently rocked by the revelation of a former receptionist from Belo Medical Group named Hope that she had a relationship with James,[11] which he vehemently denied in an interview with Korina Sanchez.[12]

This eventually led to Kris asking for "space" with the star cager. James denied the receptionist's allegations in a press statement. The issue has since died down after the Kris' pregnancy.

On April 19, 2007 his first son to Kris was born. The baby boy's name was James Aquino Yap, was born in Makati Medical Center, Makati City at 5:08 pm local time.He is 4.3 lbs.He is baptized on May 19,2007 at Don Bosco Church in Makati, with 10 godparents. There was this lebanese poster back in the fiba asia u-18 thread where he speaks really bad english and hits on the rp team. I told him to fix his english, he said, go to hell, he may not speak english but he speaks european languages like french well.

Who is that poster? Spill Spill!

Who knows but theres the guy who used to play for west virginia joe alexander who considers beijing his home. he is white not chinese by blood<, but I think He was born there or> relocated to beijing when he was very young and lived there. id like to see him play for china.

You are not completely right on that

Joe Alexander was actually born in Taiwan , in the city of Kaohsiung. However, When he was eight, his family relocated to China where he lived for six years in Hong Kong and Beijing:(where attended High School). He's also fluent in Mandarin (obviously, LOL)

So you could considered him the First Taiwanese NBA Player, well sorta...

the interview really showed how boyish James Yap is..in domestic terms, totoy pa si James. maharot pa sa mga babae, hehehe. I showed the video to my boss, he said "yan ba ang napangasawa ni Kris Aquino" (obviously my boss is not into basketball, he only knows James Yap as the husband of Kris) hehehe.

translation:
he's still young and naive.. :)

I wonder why they make fun of pinoys who can speak english? Makes them feel superior. They laugh at pacquiao while the pathetic mexican boxers cant even speak english. They Make fun of a pinay beauty queen while there are so many european beauty queens who speak worse.

Why cant we laugh at hadadi? wang? Tabuse? Duke? Kelly Puwarto? I'm pretty sure theres 100 more players in fiba asia who speak worse english than James. Heck, he even speaks better english than some of the posters here.

well we are expected to speak in good english because english (particularly the american english) is also our national language plus the fact our country stresses that we are fluent in that language for attracting a lot of BPO or Call centers. So yeah, after that the discrimination comes,

Very nicely put. I also think its part of our (sick?) sense of humor. Just like when Manila Boys make fun of how people from the provinces mispronounce tagalog. I wonder though if those guys from the provinces make fun of Manila Boys when they try to speak their province's lingo with a different accent.

What an amazing performance from Big Game James.
