Besided bagging the third-place trophy in the 21st Dubai International Basketball Tournament last month, Smart Gilas has also earned the organizers’ fancy and has been asked to return next month for a four-team tournament—all expenses paid.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive director Noli Eala told the BusinessMirror on Wednesday that they have been invited to play in the Al Ahli Cup.

“They loved Gilas so much. The organizers have offered to pay for all expenses just so we can play versus three other teams there,” said Eala.

The Al Ahli Cup is slated from March 23 to 28 where Al Riyadi of Lebanon, Syria’s Al Jalaa and the national team of the United Arab Emirates will participate.

Orthodoxi Ramallah vs. AlRa'I Saleh 97 64
A more of a practice game for Orthodoxi Ramallah players which gave the coach a chance to try out most of his players, while it was a good experience game for AlRa'i Saleh young players.
Ahmad Deeb the key of Orthodox Ramallah led the team with his shots and several assists to Ammar Jalytah on fastbreak , along with Khalil Hussary & Yamen Hweit's shots while their import Joseph Zait was an all around scorer. However AlRa'I highly depended on Nick Tuggle (198-G/F-84, college: E.Tenn.St.), who was all over the court with several shots, penetrations, assists and steals and ended the game with an amazing dunk, assisted by Samer Hadad, Ahmad Nofal, Bashar Abdel Qader, Firas Asali and Bashar AlJabi.
